Hi all

At around Oct/ November time i will be in a position where i can start to look for another xm. I may sell mine once the suspension is sorted but im not sure yet, dont think i could part with the old girl for the peanuts i would get for it sad.gif, but anyway, i am looking at getting a mk1 3L 12v manual, now i know they aren't exactly what you would call an easy to source car and i may go for an auto and or 24v but it would have to be a MK1 and i would prefer the 12v manual, so.....if you can stop yourself from laughing long enough, does anyone know where any are or if any may be coming up for sale soon??? I understand that it could take some finding but if anyone hears of anything...........

Regards D
Ciaran
I believe Gordon is trying to shift his Mk1 24v manual still on XM-L, though I believe it needs a sill welding and new clutch (due to oil contamination), would go for cheap though I believe...

Thanks Ciaran but i cannot stand rust, as they say it never sleeps and once it has got its teeth into a car it usually takes much effort, time and money to stop it effectively, mechanical issues are not a problem if the price reflects the state of the vehicle as i would go through the car top to bottom in one go doing all the bushes gaiters bearings leaks etc etc or pay good money for a good one.
A pre July 92 car would be preferred as i can legally remove the cats as well.
What do you think about a heart transplant into the prestige???? i should imagine hydraulics re piping, sub frame, exhaust electrics, instruments and really would need a complete donor v6 to carry out effectively, and even then i still wouldn't have a dot matrix display to cure my gadget envy laugh.gif

Who's laughing; nothing wrong with wanting a v6 with the price of diesel the way it is!! biggrin.gif
I know where there's lots of manual petrol s1's... wink.gif

I don't have immediate plans to part with the v6's but plans may he forced to adapt depending on
circumstances; that said, a pal is desperate to find a new home for a H plate maroon 12v Si with iffy
auto box that'll be weighed in soon for scrap as his missus wants it gone (even though it was her
car). The sad reality is the scrap value is worth more than the car as it stands so all suggestions
will be heard but I feel it's well worth sorting with a lovely engine although cosmetics will need
some limited TLC magic!

Car in Swansea but could be trailered and replacement autobox could be sold with the car.

Get your arse up there!!

That G Reg 12v V6 in the list WILL be a manual... Its near edingbourgh.
Finding a Manual V6 would be hard, they were Manual as standard in G reg only, then auto standard with manual optional from H, that said, who would buy a V6 which should be auto due to size..

Cairan

Gordons 24v is being rescued biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

Thats all im saying a the moment, but it will be done up and used by an Enthusiest...

Thats partly involving me too biggrin.gif biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

What is XM-L?
Is there another XM forum?

but I didn't tell you, OK? wink.gif

Go on citroenxm Paul, you've now started something here, care to fill in the back story to
Gordon's 24v'er. I once emailed him with the 'hots' of buying it and geting it shipped all the
way back to South Wales as I have the gearbox and MIG welder...

...but never got a reply so I assumed it'd been scrapped! huh.gif

Thanks Andrew,

I have a Mk.1 V6 24v that I could be willing to part with if it was going to a good home.

It drives fantastically, no funny noises or anything like that.

Body work isn't in bad condition, needs a new front wing due to the bottom being rotten. When you open the back door there is a spot of rust there that has been repaired badly.

Apart from that the car is in good condition and drives perfectly.

Citroenxm (Paul) will back me up on the fact that its in good condition.

Regards

David.

Welll..... um... I was forwarded Gordons request for "Some one to Rescue a 24v" Post from the XM-L list...

So sat and thought about it, in the meantime, I knew of someone who wanted a 24v due to the fact he had been in mine when she was on the road, and the rareaty of them, I informed him if ever one comes up GRAB... BUT.. you 1. Cant be fussy 2. Cant choose your colour, you have to have what ever colour comes up 3. Be prepared for work due to the age.

Anyway, I spoke to him, and told him about a possible project.. He seemed interested.. So I called gordon and had a good chat with him.. I am REMAINING involved with the project/car, and KNOW it WILL get done up. I am going to donate my spare gearbox from out of my 24v which Id removed earlyer this year, theres nothing wrong with the input shaft bearing, seal etc etc, so we will just need to get a clutch..
The party is also a GOOD welder, and I know he'll do a good job on the cills...

So there w have it.. My involvment..

Good news Paul, they are indeed rare beasties!
Would be interesting to hear how things go with it - would be an interesting blog.

I'm sure Davids' pm inbox is in meltdown at the moment after his suggestion of
his silver one being available!! Totally fabulous cars and I can't see how having
3 is reason to start selling one... tongue.gif

Andrew!!
You forgot the first rule of XM-L, don't talk about XM-L laugh.gif laugh.gif biggrin.gif
Ciaran
I was talking with Gordon a couple of years ago about possibly buying that S1 24 off him, but the clutch issue and the fact it couldn't have an MOT until everything was sorted, meaning I would have to have trailered it over from Scotland on the boat etc, so negotiations never really got off the ground...

If it was now, I'd jump at the chance, but things were different back then...

Dean, the engine transplant idea isn't such a bad one, especially when you have a car with a body and running gear as well sorted as your's. I to have toyed with the prospect of putting a V6 or even a TCT in the existing S1 body....

Hi David

Right, where are you? what colour is it? when was it first registered and is it road legal? To trailer one back to the island is going to be a lot of money with the ferry's, and i dont have a trailer, or a licence to tow rolleyes.gif.
As i said before it wouldn't be for a few months yet as i would have nowhere to put it but i am very interested if you can wait to give it a good home??

Dean
citroenxm
Dean,

its the same as mine only a K plate, have a look at mine here:

http://club-xm.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=2827

My 24v is the H326FJH, and Davids is IDENTICAL down to the colour.

Im sure David would make it legal for the right sale...
