...as this is the haven for the rightly hallowed XM but I wondered if anyone out there had tried a (bites fist in disbelief I'm about to type this) a Renault Vel Satis or Avantime, especially a higher specification V6 edition?
Just be interested in anyones's thoughts about them, vis-a-vis an Exclusive spec S2 XM...
Cheers and Merry Christmas

No but I had a good look at a Vel Satis on the works car park and although the outside is hideously ugly it was VERY luxurious inside. I think the prices have dropped substantialy as well now.
As for the Avantime I've never seen one in the flesh but I think they look ok.

I think the Vel Satis looks horrid from outside, whats with that back end?? And the funny looking grills on the front!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?
Looks aren't everything though, V6 ones are bound to be cheap, and being french they will be very high spec'd too.
David.

Another late 24V? Are you trying to collect all the late model XMs?

Ha, Tony if only that were true... I wish. No, the Xantia should be going this afternoon and the 99T XM went about 18 months ago. Suspect I might have this latest one until C6s are in my price range...

Hi
I now what you mean. I've had my '00 24v for 2.5years and I don't think I could replace it with a better XM so it's either a C6 or something similar when it eventually comes round to replacing it.
I notice that the cheapest C6 V6 diesels are about £18k now. They are dropping fast. Another year or 18months at this rate and I might be thinking about one.
My Accord has only dropped about £4k in two years. £20k in two years for a C6 is frightening, although one of my cycling mates lost £17K in a year on his Audi RS6, which hurt even for a v. well off guy.

Hi Tony
Ooh, slightly off topic, I'm trying to figure out what the youngest (in terms of RP number) XM might be on here and notice yours is a similar age. My new one is RP8603 (09/06/00) and noticed in someone else's signature that theirs was RP8604 for another V6 Exclusive... Where's yours fit into the scheme of things?
Mine appears to have been registered well before the end of June too, whereas my first one was built in December 98 and not registered until May 99... Wonder where it sat for those months... Anyway, I digress. I'm already getting like an excited kid ready for tomorrow!

Ha! Maybe towards the end of XM production there were a load of V6 engines and Exclusive interiors lying about... What colour's yours?

Hi Keith
It's a clone of Derek's - Black with Black leather interior - although a grey headlining rather than the black one usually seen.
