Hi All,

I bought this car a week back, and was going to do it up but change in circumstances forces sale!!

She is a 1995 XM vsx Turbo Diesel 2.1 AUTOMATIC 102k on clock

GOOD:
engine seems solid, battery fairly new, has service history from 2006/7 and has been looked after by 'orpington French vehicle centre'. Passed last 2 MOT's with no advisorys, I am the 4th owner (but as I say literally for few weeks), aircon works, all windows apart from drivers work (see below), radio steering controls work, radio code, original booklet, Taxed & Tested 'till end Nov 2010

BAD
Sunroof not working seems jammed
power to electric wing mirrors (NS dips when in reverse) but NS does not respond to internal controls -loose wire?
Drivers window (main crux) not working, can hear motor on switch press but nothing, bought regulator kit from ecrofting (can include kit in sale) went to sort it and inside the door someone has put a piece of 2by2 wood to keep window up!!! not sure how to sort that!!
1 key no remote fobs
Rattle - from advise on here just loose cross section
Bodywork tatty, just needs good buffering - couple of dinks
Interior tatty - just dirty really needs good hoover and shampoo, no rips/tears except for one fag burn hole in drivers door armrest.

As I say I intended to repair her, but now do not have cash (and little skills) so she must go!
I have not received V5 in my name yet, but have V5C/2 (green slip) and will transfer to new owner once received this -I am 100% honest

asking £200 (which is £50 less than I paid!)

Hi lakster,
sorry to hear you've had enough of it. Citroen's do tend to have that effect on people sometimes (I've come close to giving up myself a couple of times, they can be bloody infuriating). But the XM is a nice car.......when it works.

When I bought my 2.1 the drivers window didn't work, and I found a length of wood propping it up - and the regulator was missing mad.gif , but I assume your regulator is still there as you said that you can hear it when you press the switch.
The wood shouldn't cause you any problems, just remove it and you can still repair the regulator. You may as well have a go at fixing it now you've bought the kit.....and removed the door lining.

I think you're giving it away a bit cheap too.
I'd at least put it on Ebay, see what you can get.
With three/four months MOT and tax it has to be worth more than that, surely.

Strange spec for a VSX too. I never heard of one with dipping mirror (I thought it was just the top of the range Exclusive that got that).
Air con is also unusual on such an early VSX.

Why don't you keep it, at least until the MOT and tax run out.
It will still be worth £150 - £200 in November, even if it's just for parts or scrap.
You will at least get three/four months motoring out of it.

Well...I really would like to persevere ...BUT...lack of time, skills and cash im afraid!
She needs someone to nurse her back properly, and looks like she will be going with Ken, when we arrange it properly.

Hi All,

Ken (very nice bloke!) came to look and told me head gasket would need replacing soon, and was interested but didn't want to risk 180 mile drive in her.

SO...Still available as spares/repair for relatively local persons

In my opinion, the car is far too good to break and apart from a bit of damage to the o/s/r corner is in VERY good condition. The suspension ride is superb, all the spheres are good, the strut tops look like new and the tyres are all very very good.
The gearbox seems to be perfect and changes up and down smoothly.
She still starts and drives well but is building up pressure in the cooling system, anyone nearer to London would certainly grab a bargain here, but we were faced with a neigh on 200 miles journey late at night and didn't want to take the risk of it letting us down.

Had it been nearer to home it would have been well worth the risk.

As I've said, I think it's too good to break, but if that were the case it would yield many excellent and hard to find spare parts.

I've posted this on the other XM forum, so it goes out to a wider audience. Hopefully there will be someone closer by who can do something with it.

Hope it doesn't get scrapped.

Hi All,

Well she has gone to a new home..Phillipe of Medway Citroen has taken her, and he will fix her and not break her, so thats great!

Just want to say a HUGE thanks to all of you guys for your advice and support. You guys ROCK!...and even though I am no longer the owner of an XM (may change again!) I may well just sneakily visit the forum once or thrice.
