Rear Window Switch

i've been struggling to get the front mounted rear window switch to work. one of them will only open, not close. I've stripped down the switch, cleaned up the copper, checked continuity for operation and all is acting as it should. But in the car is does not operate the window.

its definitly the switch as i have swapped it to the other side and still doesnt work. Likewise the door mounted switch still works to close the window.

being electric i guess others xms have suffered too but why it works with the tester but not in the car is a mystery.

I think there are a pair of these switches, one for each side. If so then swap them and see if the fault moves with the switch. If it does not then it is one of the contacts in the plug the switch goes into. If it is a consol switch then I can find you a spare.

yup, its one of the switches in the front centre console by the (adjustable!?) arm rest.

i tried swapping the left and right switches and the problem stayed with the switch. I stripped it down and checked continuity for operation and it shows working correctly but does not operate when connected in the car.

then i tried the armrest switch after swapping the plastic bits around and it works fine with the window so that problem is sorted.

i just dont have a working armrest which is now quite annoying (?). it goes down but not up - i like it up! So if you had a spare switch... but its hardly critical now.
