Hi, I`ve an XM v6 which has been off the road for a few years, see Available.
I think I`v remembered the code for it now but the red and green lights are both on the keypad. I`ve left hte ignition on for 1hr but the lights still stay on.
Is there anything that is known to play up and affect this, I know on Xantias and Saxos earth points on the gearbox cause this.
Any help much appreciated.
Cheers.

On my V6 if the two lights are on, it means the keypad IS NOT communicating with the ECU!

When this happens, if I mess with the bunch of relays ON the front of the ECU box house, it activates the electrics under the bonnet...

Try, turning the ignition on with the two lights on, then under the bonnet try moving a few elecrical relays etc..

Do you hear the fuel pump whirring ?? This also stays dead until it communicates...

Give that a try and c what happens.

The knowledge on this forum amazes me sometimes. blink.gif

This particular fault could have resulted in the death of an XM.

I totally agree. Always pays to look for the simple solutions first. With property its location, location, location. With XMs its connections, connections, connections!Well done to both posters.

Yep, Good call Paul/Dave.

I do recall my total panic attack being unable to restart the 24v V6 after I'd
fitted a different water expansion bottle on the offside wing and I'd disturbed
the ECU box and the computers! Damned flaky wiring more than the relays;
isn't there only that maroon one on the front anyway? Loom and multi plugs
get's the Xm every time - easy to say after the fix I agree but it's always the
usual suspects!!

Damned french wiring - should've subcontracted the Germans to do this
particular aspect on all the interesting Citroens!!

Does this mean the V6 lives Andy?

On at least my V6 SEi 1993, theres a purple relay, 2x green ones and another I think BUT also the cruise control silver box, or should that be black box, these all hang down infront of the ECU house, and these cause the said problem on my car IF they are mounted correctly on the ECU house, so they have to dangle at an angle to work wacko.gif wacko.gif blink.gif

Glad I could help!
