We have just returned from one of our regular highlands trips and in 2,000 + miles from the south west to north east coasts didn't see one XM until we reached Chard, about 10 miles from home.
If you hav'nt been to the far north of Scotland and like beautiful scenery and empty roads, you've missed a treat. Its well worth the 700 + mile trip to experience the fantastic views and roads that most of the time are quieter than in the south 50 years ago! On monday evening we travelled the 40 miles from Tongue to Lairg (via Altnahara) and only passed two cars!
The average fuel consumption for the trip was 50 mpg + and that was with four adults, two dogs and all our luggage, I am sure not many new cars could better that.
So if you saw a green estate loaded to the gills north of the border last week, it was probably me.

Good to see you back, glad you enjoyed yourself.

Peter,
because it was too hot the days you travelled, most of the XMs -which overheat- wisely stayed in the drive and their owners took the Nissan to go round and about, so you didn't get to see those. I only have the XM so I couldn't even go around. The few ones that don't overheat, their owners were probably busy fixing an array of faults accumulated during the DIY-unfriendly Scottish winter -can you think of any greater hapiness than fixing your XM while the rest of the people are having barbecues, sunbathing etc- ??

Hi citroenxm
Do it! Theres no place like it. We have been going for about 30 years, used to stay between Wick and Thurso, stay near Lairg now. Will be going up again later in the year. This trip we had a bonus.....it was warm!
I'm glad someones buying the XMs!

Hi George
Yes it was hot, unusually so. Mine doesn't overheat though, the display sometimes tells me it is when the temperature is below normal! I think that the 2.1 tds have got a big enough radiator. Fixing XMs is a profession not a hobby! or should I say 'a calling'
