Hi, I have just arrived here (the forum that is, no idea what country you are based in ???) smile.gif

I knew i'd find a fan base for the XM. cool.gif

I'm working on a video project for TV in Britain and i want a decent tracking vehicle. I was going to use my Ford Sapphire like in Taxi 2

but thats a bit OTT for public roads.

The XM has been suggested by a good forum i frequent, as well as the CX 2CV etc, so i'm thinking fine, only prob is i already have 2 project cars i'm doing up, and i want it to be reliable and as nice to live with/drive as the Sierra. anyone want to continue talking me into it and tell me what to look out for? biggrin.gif

An estate is ideal for this, are boot/trunk seats available for these. I'll consider a hatch too if the right one comes up.

The xm estate is huge, about the biggest you will find and it also gives a very good ride, would make an ideal camera car or means of transporting delicate equipment safely.

If you are not to worried about fuel economy there are more low mileage petrols about than diesels. If you get a Mk2, from late '94 on, chevrons in centre of grill, they are more reliable than the earlier ones. You can pick them up for a few hundred pounds but if you want something well looked after with a reasonable mileage be prepared to pay a thousand pounds or so.

Thanks Peter, To be honest, the idea of getting an economical mile muncher is a great by-product so i'll opt for a diesel i think. Generally the 94 on models are generally more reliable?

I did a bit of swatting up on the xm club site and the net and looks like i might need to spend 1k ish to get a good one and the sapph is not worth that much. I'm gonna run the Sierra and start looking for any local bargains. I have two project cars already, so i'll try make sure i get this purchase right, and i might have to bid farewell to the faithful sapph. unsure.gif

Is it possible to get those back facing seats from citroen for the boot does any one know?

Thanks

You wont beat the 2.1td manual for fuel consumption, mine averages 40 mpg + and will do over 50 on a longish journey. But, they are very difficult to find now, especially Mk2s. The 2.5s are still quite good on fuel and pull well but they are generally more expensive to maintain Ther are some cheap auto's about but be prepared to write one off if the gearbox fails.

Dont know about the seats, I'm sure someone else will.
