Full Version Collecting Xm On Thursday

Hi all, just bought a 2.1d Xm estate on e.bay and due to collect on thursday. If description is right I have a bargain! 50800 mile 1993. Unused and unwanted but on the road with tax and MOT until 07. Fingers crossed!

I have been hovering around buying one of these for years and finally decided to jump in. I have always had a soft spot for the hydractive Citroens particularly Diesels and this is the top of the list, in my humble opinion. In any case, my wife get's the new cars and I usually settle for something a little longer in the tooth and it was time to treat myself. Having begun my motoring on a shoestring and gradually getting newer and bigger I decided a couple of years ago to go back to older cars and hav'nt regretted it. My wife though, still prefers a new car!

There's something mildly satisfying about spending little money and getting a good car that's got plenty of life in it. Giving it to the man, in a weird sort of middle aged and rebellious way, if that's okay of course.

Will report back once I have collected the car, hopefully with good news.

Hi Have,

Welcome to club-xm. I'm sure you'll find the club interesting and helpful. There are usually lots of people who can offer you advice about your XM related woes. It would seem unlikely that you won't have any problems but hopefully none so serious that we can't fix them here.

If you get a chance it would be useful to put some information in your signature about the car. You can see mine as an example below. When you ask a question or look for some help its handy to know about the model, trim and year in order that your question can be answered more accurately. Click on the 'my controls' button at the top right of the screen and then on 'edit my signature' in the bottom left hand corner of the next screen. Fill in the details in the white box in the middle of the screen.

cheers

Thank you for your welcome. The 'have' at the bottom of the page is not my name but a torpinmg error!! My Sunday name is Ian.

Collected the car on Thursday. As I suspected, the e.bay description was a little economic with the truth! In particular the mileage of the car is definately a lot more than the 50900 listed. Neverthless, I still thoroughly enjoyed the drive home and have now got plans to improve the overall condition of the car and possibly find a newer 'MK2' model estate and use this one as spares. So if anyone has one......... In the meantime, it is taxed and tested for nearly a year so I have time yet! The more I drive it the more I appreciate it, even in it's less than perfect condition.

Still evaluating the car properly at the moment, so no doubt I will have need of advise before much longer.
