I'm new to this so I'll start with a summery - I own a 1997 Mk3 Xm Estate VSX Auto Diesel Turbo 2.1, mileage now 165000. Last year a pipe burst on the supply to the gearbox cooling radiator. Unfortunately my partner tried to drive home not knowing what was happening. Hence engine removed from car by local garage in order to get gearbox re-built (it was no trouble at all arranging this bit). Rebuilt gearbox & engine refitted _ NO turbo !!! Garage cannot find the problem and I have been driving it for 7 months in this condition with no adverse effect on the MPG, but it has no power with any load on board going up any steep hill, and overtaking takes a little longer.
I now want to tow my 17foot caravan again, need the power, what can I do? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
My cheapest option probably is to but a towbar on my partners 1994 Mk1.5 XM Prestige Auto Diesel Turbo 2.1. mileage now 75000.
