Hi folks, There 2 x 2.1TDs in yards in Huyton Liverpool and St. Helens which are only about 20 mins. appart. Both yards are close to the M62.

The details are: Atlas Salvage, Unit 20 Jackson St., St. Helens, 01744 612712,
this is a J reg, alas the front sus. top mountings are in bad condition.

The other car is at: Huyton Quarry Salvage, Ellis Ashton St., Huyton 0151 480 5451, this is a K reg. with no front struts/tops, sorry but I got the biggrin.gif nearly new ones biggrin.gif off this car which got my 2.5TD est. project going again after a years wait and is now back on the road. (someone must have been looking out for me the day I found them!)
Hope this info will be of use to someone out there,

Hi Chrisr

Glad you found yourself some good strutheads. I am interested to know if you were able to fit the strut heads from a Mk1 onto your Mk2 struts of if you had to change both the strut and head to fit the Mk1 components.

Hi XMexc,
I swopped the complete strut top/strut assys. Yes my MkII had the 18mm nut (bigger piston rod) and the MKI the 16mm nut (smaller piston rod) After much cross checking in the parts manual I found that the Mki 2.1TD and the V6 shared the same strut and top mounting so if it was good enough for the V6 it would be good enough for my 2.5TD est.
Any comments or experiences?

Hi Chrisr

I had done the same research and had come to the same conclusion that you could use some Mk1 struts heads in a Mk2 provided you changed the head and the strut. I had not got round to trying it just collecting the bits. You confirmation that it works is very useful as I was still hesitating because it is just the drivers side strut that I need to change (in 3 cars).
