I take that NOBODY knows!
O.K.......
....Do the teves ones(blue connector) work on the bendix system?

I am currently setting up a test rig to compare sensor signals.
It is reported that XM Teves sensors can be made to work with a Bendix ECU.
The problem is the gap spacing to the ring teeth.
Bendix sensors have adjusters for the gap to be set to 0.5mm.
Teves sensors have no adjustment and the gap tolerance is 0.58mm to 1.58mm.
Fit a Teves sensor and the gap is likely to be around 1mm.
Fine for the more tolerant Teves ECU but not so for the more picky Bendix ECU.
Best to file the 0.5mm from the underside of the Teves sensor head.
XM Teves sensors are current stock items at ECP for £45 each.
There have been some new XM Bendix sensors offered on ebay in Europe.
They did not sell as the asking price was around £200 each.
The Teves sensors are 1100 Ohms which all XM Bendix ECU's are happy with.
For my test I have a number of different sensors.
New and used Bendix.
XM Teves and Saxo Teves.
Both types of Pug 605 (Bosch sensors).
Plus an industrial sensor that another Club-XM member uses on his XM (not ABS).
Saxo fronts are £15 and the industrial £10.
Are you sure that all your sensors are duff?
What does the start-up test show in ABS blinks.
Has your ECU been read and cleared?

Intermittent fault!
Sometimes on start up it will flick once then stay lit.
Other times it comes on when driving and can "usually" be reset by turning ign off & back on whilst moving.
Sometimes the abs will kick in at low speeds and release the front brakes(O/S),
the first time was a bit of a shock (having the steering judder to the left).
At the last MOT it came on after idling for a long while but the tester said that when he turned it off and restarted it was working OK.
It's done that a couple of times since whilst getting the wife+ wheelchair in/out with engine idling,(it's one of the things we love, being able to raise the suspension to get out & lower it to get in from the wheelchair).
I haven't checked the sensors yet but knowing that they are the main cause of this type of fault I thought I'd better see IF I could get them.

Hi Nightmare
The start-up test on the ABS includes as its final check the wiring and resistance value of all the wheel sensors.
So the sensors are passing that test when you switch on the ignition.
Your fault clearing of the ABS is stuffing the ECU with ABS power supply faults.
The Bendix ABS ECU has 3 separate power feeds.
When you turn the key to the starting position one of the 3 feeds is disconnected.
This action starts the ABS ECU start-up test routine.
When the car is running and there is no brake application the ECU monitors the components including the power suppliers.
It sees that flick of the switch as a intermittent power failure and stores a fault.
If it sees enough of them it puts the light on and the ABS out.
At next start-up that fault is not present so light goes out.
From the description it sounds as though you also have one other intermittent fault.
That will add to the ECU stored faults and the occasional light on.
They will also be very difficult to track down.
Before you go into the system looking for faults it would help to have a target.
If you have a Lexia read and clear the ECU after noting the faults present.
Then run the car for a while and see what the light does.
Then read again with a Lexia and note the new faults.
These will now just list your intermittent fault components.
That way you do not replace any more that essential.
Nor do you chase around changing things and still not find the fault.
If you do not have a Lexia then I can post you a clean ECU with the battery box lid.
We can see how the ABS behaves with that installed.

How do I clear the fault codes "without" a lexia or elit

Nightmare,
Are you likely to be in the Falkirk or Inverness areas over the next couple of weeks? If in the Falkirk (or within travelling distance) area then pop in and I'll stick my Lexia on your car. Otherwise, I'll be in Inverness on business on Tue 11 and Wed 12 Nov. We could arrange to meet at some suitable venue and I'll bring my Lexia with me.
Let me know if that's any use to you.
Cheers
noz
