I have already joined the other lot at Citreon XM Forum UK on 31st August 2013.
So please excuse this as being a rehash of my introduction there with minor updates.
What I don't know about XM's would fill many books but I am keen to learn.
Our new/ old XM formerly owned by an Air New Zealand Flight Captain.(currently on Airbus 320's)
Best car I have ever owned. So much more room inside compared to our S2 Xantia 2.0 Turbo HDi.Also 1999.
The door opens with a solidly reassuring clunk. Just like a Rover P6 2000 TC. (the P6 being 50 years young this year; Rover's homage to the Citroen DS 8 years earlier in 1955 but I digress)
The ANZ pilot has had the ZF 4-stage automatic transmission rebuilt at ruinous cost God Bless him.
The air conditioning works and the silver paintwork and cloth seats are pristine.
The alarm doesn't work too good, the cruise control isn't very accurate, the immobiliser keypad has been disconnected,
the radio cassette player works fine but no CD-stacker, the ignition switch is n/w
(bypassed by a concealed pushbutton~doubles as a kill switch)
and the diesel injection pump will need a rebuild fairly soon.(fault is that motor won't be able to be turned off
at all eventually) All projects for the summer to look forward to.
Anyways I am enjoying our XM hugely. I have just received a Haynes Citroen XM Hints and/or Workshop Manual. Mine being a brand new but paperback version to my surprise.
I am wondering if one of the Cd-ROM's of the Factory Workshop manuals & wiring diagrams would be a good next step. Comments?
We are lucky to live two railway stations away from Auto France Ltd. The proprietor is a 2nd generation Citroen mechanic. His daily driver is a XM 2.5 Turbo diesel.
My wife finds the electrically height adjustable driver's seat a very useful widget.

Welcome to the forum. I have run 2.1 td XM estates for over 15 years and there is nothing like them for comfort, space and economy (manual version) with 50+ mpg available if driven gently.
Pleased to hear that a few have made it to the other end of the earth and are still going, they are getting very rare here now, I still have one estate but my son has adopted it so don't very often get to use it, it rides better than the C5 though and the engine is smoother.
I used them for many years and miles in my work as a TV engineer, you can carry a lot of the old heavy sets in one of those, you can carry the modern ones on a bicycle, but I don't - I'm retired.
