Folks,
I've asked my independent to make up some rear brake pipes, having measured very carefully along the existing runs with some 0.5mm solid core telecomms wire. It's ideal stuff for the job, as it stays where you put it, and I have loads! Hence, my measurements are usually accurate.
However, the chap at the garage has compared my measurements with the Citroen microfiche, and has queried my measurements.
I make the o/s 2440mm Incl. the curly bit (which is 1300 alone!). Citroen quote 2116.
More notable is the n/s, which I make as 2270, but the fiche says 1170.
Can anyone comment on their accuracy? I can't work out the latter one, taking into account the 1300 of the coil.

Hi Rob
Found a set of fiches and looked through them.
I do not think they are a reliable guide.
I looked at a couple of things.
Feed pipe to anti-sink sphere is shown as way over actual length.
Diagrams before and after ORGA 6741 show rear brake pipe lengths the same.
The pipe layout is also the same for each.
I think this is total crap as information.
ORGA 6741 was the change over from Bendix to Teves brakes.
There is a very big difference between how those two systems control the rear brakes.
Bendix has a single ABS rear electrovalve while Teves has two seperate rear electrovalves.
That change requires a second seperate brake feed pipe front to rear.
The diagram for the post ORGA 6741 2.5 still has a Bendix single pipe layout.
If they cannot get the diagram correct what hope is there for pipe length accuracy.
I would remeasure actual as a double check.
Tape your S&T wire to the pipe as you go, cut to length and take wire in for them to work to.

John,
Many thanks for the reassurance.
It was case of a weekend mechanic versus a chap who has DS course certificates on his wall from 1972, so I always feel a bit under-confident.
I remeasured when I got back. One was far too long as the jumper wire had probably got caught around a wheel bolt when I was measuring, but the other two were spot on.

John, All,
Just to wrap this one up, my measurements were spot on. The fiche was wrong.

Hi Rob
Thanks for the feedback on this.
So important to have confirmation where printed info proves wrong.
