Hi Bruce

Send a PM to Dean asking for advice.
He seems to be our resident autobox adviser.

Id say the box should physically fit the engine, but Id think the Petrol ratios would be too short for the DERV...

IIRC, V6 ratios are much closer the mark of DERV engines.. I remember my V6 12v in 4th sitting at 80mph at 3k rpm... which is about the same as the DERV..

I still think waiting for Dean is a good idea though, Im only going on observations.. not actual mechanical details..

Hi, the box will fit and work but as suggested the shift points will be wrong due to a different Valveblock setup, also the final drive is a different ratio, these parts can be swapped with minimal effort but i am affraid the problem could well be your valveblock and so not much point swapping it into a good box.

Ebay listing 2.1TD Auto The guy who has this car is a forum member (Dieselman) and i believe he has a good gearbox that would be an easy plug and play option for you, contact him.

We could well get to the root o your problems for an easy fix but you need the parts and i dont think your petrol box will have these.

Thanks for the heads up Paul and Dean.

I do indeed have a good 2.1 auto gearbox up for grabs.
