I have got a bit keen and had to get the sunroof shut on the xm, found the motor cog is slipping on the cables. so disconnected the lot and pulled shut manually.

i am wondering if a BX or ZX or Xantia sunroof motor is the same? it just needs the cog really.

last month:
I repaired the broken window mechanism with a bit from a SAAB. works a treat touch wood.

Also does anybody know were the sunroof drains are as i want to clear them as there is lots of water coming into the car when it rains.

Hi djm,

There are 4 drainage outlets from the sunroof tray, one in each corner. The rubber/plastic drainage tubes push onto spigots formed in the corners of the tray and lead the water down to ground level. The two front tubes go down inside the pillar between the front doors and the windscreen. They appear below the car from behind the plastic inner wheel arch liner. The rear tubes go down the pillars in front of the rear quarterlights. They appear below the car again from behind the inner plastic wheel arch liner.

Hope that helps.

Cheers

You may well find it's actually the cables that the cog engages with that are kaput. A friend of mine did get a BX motor or at least the cog to work an XM sunroof.

Hi Noz

How easy is it to get to the front spigots to check the connections? During heavy rain water drips down my drivers side door pillar / lower end of the dash onto the sill and into the footwell. The drain tube is not blocked as I can also see the water appearing behind the rear of the plastic wheel arch shield as normal. Any photos available?

Thanks

Hi Ken

I got in to refit the passenger side tube just by releasing the headlining.
A pillar inner trim, grab handle and sun visor removed left the corner able to flap down.
You may also want to remove the long thin screw into the headlining from the front edge of the sunroof. Easy to damage the grip if you pull lining down too far.

yeah i have got a couple of cables for it and a couple of motos from various cars. so when i pull the headlining out this summer i am sort of ready. i think it will have to wait atm as it is winter here and i dont have anywere in the dry to strip the roof lining out. so i wait. i might spray the roof while i have the sunroof out to tart the car up a bit.
