Hi from the owner of a 1992 Series 1.5 XM 2.0i Prestige. Car is manual, charcoal exterior with black leather.

The car was privately imported from the UK to Australia in 1997. Bought it this year - filthy and neglected, and am bringing it back to life. Most things work, except for the radio and the air con.

A recent scare involved finding a rusty strut top mount. Was quoted around AUD $1200 (about 500 UK pounds) to replace, so now have a Nylander kit on its way from Norway to address the problem.

XMs are exotic beasts in Aus - less than 150 were sold here, so parts and expertise in fixing are scarce. Have been looking for a few bits on UK websites (tail light lenses, specifically), but no joy so far - most wreckers seem to consider it not worth posting these items to Australia, despite having all costs covered. Any recommendations for an XM parts supplier willing to post internationally would be much appreciated!

Thanks Noz for the site, it looks very worthwhile.

Regards,

Greg

Hi Greg and welcome to the club

There are not all that many XMs over here. I have a '96 2.1 td manual estate of which they sold only 61 here. I have been looking for a later one but it seems thetr were only a handful of manuals sold here after '96 and in a year of trying I havn't been able to find one.

Anyway, enjoy yours.

Hi Greg

I would be willing to dispatch bits to you at cost if you want. I have some contacts with a number of XM breakers as and when I need bits. Also some bits I buy to store away for the future as the current fast scrapping rate in the UK is changing from Mk1 to Mk2 and will dry up altogether over the next few years. Have scrapped the odd Mk1 myself and suspect I could find the lights for you. Let me know if you are interested.
