Full Version Forum Software

Club XM Forum > Announcements

Hi all,

I have negotiated with the site owner to give me access to the server in order to perform the update to the forum software. It is currently v1.2 and it needs to be v1.3.1 in order to be compatible with SQL5.

I now have a complete backup of the forum so the existing data is safe.

I will build the new forum offline to begin with and test its various functions before putting it on-line. Whilst I don't want to commit to a date at this point, all I can say is that it should not be too long (famous last words).

The new software should of course solve the issues with not being able to edit signatures, the PM system and viewing members profiles.

I know its been a hard slog but please bear with us for just a little while longer.

For those who wish to have a sneak preview of what the new site will look like, here's a site which uses v1.3.1:

Of course the skins can be adapted to suit but it gives you an idea of the functionality it will have (I hope).

Cheers

Great effort Noz.

Will the forum still be hosted by Chris Light or are you/we gaining a degree of independence following all your hard work to get things sorted out?

Hi Ken,

I think there is likely to be a greater level of autonomy from now on. I will be keeping backups and applying updates as they arise.

I have been pointed to a selection of skins available for this forum software. They are here:
http://www1.rwb-essen.de/ipbtest
Just click on the MORE button at the top right of the screen, a popup will appear with the skin choices. Click on each of the skins one at a time and the main page will change. Please let me know if anyone finds one they believe will be appropriate for Club-XM. Some are free, others require to be paid for. But lets see what the choice is first.

We are making good progress on the migration process.

Cheers

I quite like the first one, 2005 retouch I think it is. Fairly easy on the eye and similar to the present one.

Well, here we are, finally. The forum software has been updated to a version which is compatible with SQL5. As you can see the PM system and profiles are back working again.

I wish to offer my heartfelt thanks and appreciation to Peter at IBForen.de for all his help and patience and to Chris for trusting me with the admin password.

Now that the mechanical parts are working correctly I hope to add some bells and whistles in due course.

Cheers
