Hi, My 1999 Exclusive hatchback has all the bells and whistles, and for the first time I have a problem with the dipped headlights amber indicator lamp suddenly not working. Any comments or advice on how to rectify the siuation would be appreciated. Please don't tell me that I need to dismantle the dashboard !! I know that it is not strictly essential, but would like to have it working if pos. The main beam (blue) lamp is OK

Cheers

Hi Keith,i'm a bit puzzled? Dipped indication is green not amber. In accordance with convention, green is advisory of normal state, blue for switched transition to another state.Amber for fault if unswitched and temporary for switched.Red is failure. However, likely fault is a panel filament.

Maybe he is colour blind like me biggrin.gif The only problem I have had with the dipped warning light was due to a bad connection on the instrument panel. Its not that difficult to get out, you can do it in less than 10 minutes - once you know where all the screws are.

Quite right robertm, of course it is green, my mistake.

Peter, so let us all into the "simple if you know how" 10 minute solution, please.

Is yours a Mk2 keith?

Sorry, silly question, I've just lookled at your original post, right :

Remove the screws along the bottom edge of the dash panel, slide the steering wheel to it lowest and furthest out position, remove the two inserts either side of the panel and the screws beneath them, remove the two screws facing upwards above the instrument panel, remove the left hand end insert with the LED in it and remove the screw behind it, remove the centre air vents and screw behind, remove the escutcheon around the glove box button and the screw behind that - ah, you probably don't have one as yours is a late model, but it will be round there somewhere, I think that is all, you should now be able to romove the housing, the panel is held in with two screws at the bottom and the top just snaps in - or is it the other way round, you will soon see.
