Full Version Draining Coolant 2,5td

Hi all,

I wanted to take my radiators out to be able to give them a good clean (not enough room under the hood to get an air gun in properly and you wouldn't be cleaning the small radiator like that anyway). Took both of them out, very dirty, and cleaned with a regular gardening hose.
When draining the system through the little draining plug underneath the rad only about 8 litres came out. Not quite the 13 it is supposed to have.
Has anyone ever done a proper draining (ie drain the block as well)? If so what is the easy way to get at the drain plug because the way I see it the intercooler needs to come out along with the starter and everything in between rolleyes.gif ...

Cheers,
Niek

Hi Niek,

I don't know of a drain point lower down the engine than the point where all the hoses attach. If there isn't one down near the bottom of the block then I suppose you can never drain it properly. Never really thought about it before. I just drainit by taking off the bottom radiator hose.

Cheers
