Hi Techies out there !
Of late the computer has taken to emitting a continuous two tone bleeping, just like a small police car, if left unattended and idle for much more than quarter of an hour. Moving the mouse will end the noise, but not necessarily instantaneously (maybe several second delay, but not always). Nothing I'm aware of has been added to or taken away from the system, so what is it telling me ? It's an Award bios and running XP. No other noticeable malfunctions.
Mike.

I use a small freebie utility Mike which might sort your problem. Its called Advanced Windows Care download from IOBIT.
Its not getting too hot is it? How many fans do you have? I have three on mine. Also is the power supply up to the job. I have a 650w on mine. Very cheap from places like Ebuyer or Aria. Its always worth upgrading if you only have say 250 watts as this will screw your board or processor or both!

Have you done any Windows updates which could have altered the device drivers or the energy saving setup?

Dave.
It emits a typhoon from the back vent and the processor one is fine as well. Didn't have the problem and I haven't changed the power supply, so I doubt that's it -- although never say never ! Also, only does it at rest when I would presume the power requirement is least ? Will give your download a go.
Steve.
Interesting thought. I did notice when I shut down the other evening there was an automatic update to do, although I think the problem was happening before then.
Thanks for your thoughts.
Mike.

That would suggest an overheating issue, or a power problem.
Ei Systems or Advent is it?
