Hi,
I'm having trouble finding in depth information about the 2.0 Turbo. I have Noz's disc but I can't find any real info on it about this engine. Similar problem with the Haynes manual. Does anyone know if the Haynes 406 manual is a better bet or is there another source?
Thanks.
Steve.

Hi Steve & Dean
Will try to find time to have a look through my XM and Pug workshop manuals. If by any chance either of you know the date when the TCT engine was first used in the XM/406/605 and the engine code(s) otherwise I have 15 XM and 52 Pug manuals to search.

Hi John
The engine codes are RGY or RGX and i think they where first used at around the time of the MK1.5 or maybe marginally earlier but this is just a guess.
Thanks

Hi Dean
Found some initial references in the 1994 and 1995 model year presentations.
RGY cars/estates are late Mk1 2 ltr TurboCT type code Y3-AX(car) Y3-AY(estate) engine RGY,104kW-XU10J2TE with ME5T manual box or 4HP18 auto box.
RGX cars/estates are early Mk2 2ltr turbo injection type code Y4-GG(car) Y4-GM(estate) engine RGX,108kW-XU10J2TE/Z same boxes autos are Y4-TT and Y4-TS.
Now I know where to look I will have another search tomorrow.

Nice work John.
I'm going to have a look in a Haynes Xantia manual I have to see if that throws up any more details.

Hi Dean and Steve
XM 4 cylinder Petrol Engine Summary from Russek.
Fitted engine type:
2.0 ltr carb, from 1989...................................................................XU10.2C (R2A)
2.0 ltr injection, from 1989............................................................XU10J2/Z (RFZ)
2.0 ltr fuel injection, from 1990...........................XU10.J2 (R6A) - discontinued 1995
2.0 ltr fuel injection (Monopoint), from 1990............................XU10.M (RDZ of RFZ)
2.0 ltr turbo fuel injection.........................................................XU10.J2TE/Z (RGY)
My first look through the Mk1 part of the Citroen workshop manual has found no specific engine booklets as there are for the V6 and 2.1TD. Will try to scan Russek in more detail (white XM petrol engine copy). Will be a few days before I get to the Pug manuals again as they are now behind a stack of 9 doors and a couple of engines while I move the cars around in the unit. A 2.5 estate is bit of a sod to push dead on your own. Soon find the dips and ridges in a supposedly level concrete floor.

Hi Steve and Dean
Did much better than I expected tonight. Found just enough space and winched the back end of the estate over easily once I had taken the tow hook off to clear a support column. Moved the spare doors and then spent the rest of the evening looking through the Pug manuals extracting the 50 odd booklets I thought were interesting. Nearly half of them were ABS stuff for me to check through. There were 10 or so on 4 cylinder petrol engines and a few less on gearboxes. Will list some I think might be useful:
XU Engines ----- Overhaul ---- dated Feb 98 ---- 132 pages.
605 Petrol engines --- --------- dated jun 95 ---- 44 pages (inc XU10J2TE & turbo)
406 ---- XU10J2CTE engines -- dated nov 96----32 pages
The other 8 engine booklets were about the injection ignition systems.

Wow that's nice moving all that stuff to have a look.
Very kind of you.
I did look in my Xantia Haynes manual but it doesn't cover the 2.0 Turbo.
Thanks.

Hi Steve and Dean
It looks to me as though the XU10.2 was a common base for a range of engines used in XM's from 1989 up to the 1996 model year. As a result it is most likely that the basic engine overhaul and maintenance instructions will be in the early part of the XM Mk1 manual. The turbo stuff will have been published around 1993 as extras not a complete separate engine manual. It is just possible that the XU10.2 was installed in earlier PSA cars and if so the main overhaul instructions may well be found in the workshop manuals for those cars.
Going out today to collect an outbearthed XM before the tax and MOT run out so will add to this saga next time I get a chance.
