Full Version 1990 Sed

Well, after seven years together I have decided to part with my XM. Sadly it has failed its MOT and I just don't want to spend any more time or money on it.

Viewed through my rose tinted glasses it is too good, and as a 1990 model, I think too rare to just scrap. Not to mention the emotional attachment after seven years of love hate relationship!!

I do not have the time to break it myself as I am away with work a great deal at the moment, and for that reason it needs to go soon.

So if anyone here would like a nice project, I would be very happy to see it go to a good home!

It is dark green, 1990 H reg 2.1 turbo diesel. 157000 (ISH!) miles. Good bodywork, very good black leather interior, good engine (about 60000miles old). Noisy gearbox, but still drives well. Lots of good parts on it, like front struts and mounts and ABS valve block (expensive!).
Hydraulics work well, although the Hydractive has never been right. It is comfortable though.
ABS works. Aircon doesn't, never has in my ownership.
Electrics all good, apart from temperamental heater flap servo motor! Even all the window and seat switches are illuminated.
Fully working and locking glovebox!!
Original alloys in variable condition.

Masses of history (turbo, injection pump, full exhaust, alternator, pump, FDV, steering pinion valve....), I am not going to think about what I have spent on it in my ownership, I could do without crying myself to sleep tonight!

Given the mileage the rear arms are going to need doing soon.

It failed the MOT on 1 tyre, welding on both sills (one largish hole centre, other side small amount at rear). Small hydraulic leak, front wishbone bushes one side.
I think there was something else, I really can't remember at the moment, sorry. I am still away from home so can't check right now. Maybe blowing exhaust downpipe joint?

I am happy to email photos if you like (I may even try posting some here), or answer any questions, after so long I know the car inside out so can go into mind numbingly boring detail if you want!

I am in the Tonbridge area of Kent, car runs and drives well (probably, it has been sitting since early December!) but is not road legal so would need trailering.

I do have someone local who is interested in it for the wheels but I want to offer it to you guys before I decide.

I also have quite a few spares as I broke a similar estate last year.
And, a little off topic, I have masses of BX spares available!

So, is anyone feeling adventurous??

Maybe there's a glitch in the space time continuum? tongue.gif

Only if they are very cheap biggrin.gif

The other one is in Tunbridge Wells - coincidence?

I'm only interested in 'for spares' ones if they are local. I lived not far from Tonbridge before I moved here - but that was nearly 40 years ago.

Thanks Andmcit, I am in Tonbridge area!
And it is a funny coincidence the similar one on Ebay. I have never seen it around. In fact I can't remember the last time I saw a similar one on the road. All the XMs I see around are middle aged estates which are workhorses of some sort or another. Which is understandable, I had an estate as a spares car, and I was staggered by the size of it! ohmy.gif

It WILL have Lucas on it, unless the fellow has swapped the fuel system to Bosch... wink.gif tongue.gif biggrin.gif

Thanks Paul. Are all the Mk1s Lucas?
citroenxm
Nope!

They went over to Bosch around K, so Late S1 or S1.5's if you like... Ive had a couple of L reg ones here and BOTH have had bosch, and seen a few on the Bay, K and L and had bosch..

So go for at least S1.5 for a Bosch equip car...

My L plater was a Bosch unit.
