I have been going to ask this question for such a long time but just kept forgetting.

So did mine. I super-glued a bit of hard plastic to the worn bit, filed it to what looked like the right shape. Worked a treat.
Interestingly I would say the car has never been smoked in. The ashtrays are pristine so quite how the catch got worn I don't know!
