Thankfully they are soldiering on with the C6 at present, and the 2.2 HDi is being launched with a 6 speed auto in France shortly.

Well, as an aside, this is very nice:

I love a lot of these new designs, like the C metisse, but if it goes into production you can forget the gullwing and rotating doors, the low roof line and strange cocoon like interior and probably the attractive, but not too pedestrian friendly front end too.
This is the problem now, cars are all produced to meet safety criterior with crumple zones and air bags with a soft flat nose so should you run someone over they are only mildly cripled for life, rather than dead.
Its very hard to put out something different and exiting like the DS whilst being bound by these rules sad.gif

Well chaps, this will either put you out of or add to your misery.

First thing that strikes me when seeing the pictures was, a Mini with chevrons.

Judging by the enthusiasm for them, this can't be a bad thing commercially - so whilst not
badged as a BMW, the new "Lexus" range for Citroen may be needed why call it DS series
though!???? huh.gif

Have always been thinking that Cit should launch their "Lexus" brand -albeit was thinking about limo-sized cars- but was thinking of the "Panhard" name -just sounds nice and "luxurious" to me-. But they've done their research probably....hopefully....

Speaking of BMW, am I the only one to have read last week that PSA is in talks with BMW over a merger-scale marriage??

cheers

Looks like a rollerskate.

But yes, as you said Andrew, and I was saying to someone else yesterday, it won't be a bad thing comercially, especially when you consider how people fall over themselves to pay way over the odds for the well overrated Bavarian Mini.

A Citroen that appreciates in value...whatever next! laugh.gif

Perhaps you should all view these branding exercises, that hopefully sell more cars, as a means to subsidise production of the C6 and other futher top of the range big Citroens. Thats how I look at it.

I personally hate all those mid sized Piscasso sized people carriers, but people buy them, and this, in my opinion subsidises the production of the next Big Citroen that I want to own.

Every car comes with a DS inside!?

I like the wheels - setting the hub back and then bringing the centre hub slightly
outwards is quite effective - looks like the heart of a flower!!

What's the feeling about the B pillar? Melted snow effect!?

I'm at my parent's house just now and the new style Citroen ad has just come on TV.

Its quite good, it starts out saying how everyones always on about reducing costs, reducing carbon emissions, reduce danger, reduce stress, reduce reduce reduce, 'But we'll never reduce our creativity'. Then ends with the new style curvy Chevrons drawn in an arty style outline in red, on a white background. Total colour inversion I just realised.

And yes, good point about the bread and butter cars subsidising the likes of the C6.

So what did the ad actually feature; was it model specific
or more generic range flag waving/drum banging?

At least with the company still in business by selling boring bread and butter fare, we can still
get Xm items even if they're silly prices! At least for another year or two!

It wasn't model specific no, it has this little half animated sequence where everything keeps folding in half during the 'reduce reduce reduce' part, then at the end there are a load of artists impressions of some car models, engine parts etc, which you see very briefly and which then 'become' the new Chevrons.

Its kind of hard to explain, but its been on 5 times tonight so far so I'm sure you'll catch it soon biggrin.gif

Was looking for it on Youtube but its not appeared yet.

I've seen the press ad and the website has the merging sketches into a chevron effect:

Seeing the images my first thought also was that it was a slightly redesigned BMW Mini. I find nothing to hate about it, but don't get the DS thing. I may be able to convince my mother, whose ancient, but reliable AX I always drive when I come to Europe (she doesn't drive anymore - she's 91), to buy one. And get one myself to drive around town or for my daughters to use instead of the Tortilla Glitz cool.gif
