Hi Terry

One posibility if it kangeroo's particularly in first gear then the EGR valve may be stuck. Symptoms vary depending on what position it has stuck in but it can also play havoc with the signals to the ECU which will then compensate by altering the idle setting up a bit. If the valve is only sticking some of the time locked position may vary and any symptons change with it.

Hi John.

Am starting to wonder if this may be a factor in my current management light issue ---- where is the valve situated ?

Hi Mike

Behind the engine. Noz has posted previously on how to service/blank it off.

I had this problem with my "fly by wire" 2.1td, it was the throttle potentiometer, I think the internal "tracks" get worn in the most used range of movement, I swapped it for another used pot and the problem went away.

Good luck, Colin.P
