hi all
My xm 8v turbo feels hell of a slow to rev up compared to other cars ive had, its strange, if your in park and put your food right to the floor it takes ages to rev, feels v sluggish to drive too, are these cars bat for blocked cats, fueling problems??

Cheers all

Hi

Sounds like you have problems, it should be fast being a turbo should go like a rocket
It could be a number of things ?
Send some more info to us

It could be just down to fuel ! Have you changed the fuel filter in the tank ?

Is the turbo working ? check the turbo pipes are all tight and not leaking

let us know how you get on and send more info

Im not sure if the XM has a independent ECU for the turbo

Hello Jamie,

I've had a blocked cat on my previous car. In my case I had the following signs, occasional K-light, exhaust semi-detaching itself from the manifold, blowing through the air filter (quite noisy), in the end it wouldn't rev higher than 3500 anymore but untill I got there it just gradually became slower over the timespan of about a month. Another thing to check is the amount of exhaust gas coming out, as well as the temperature of these gasses (feel at the end of the pipe).
I ended up tearing the interior out of the cat, but it failed the MOT by a mile a couple of months later so replaced the cat.

Cheers,
Niek
