Don't know what happened, but it's good to have the forum back.

Well done Noz biggrin.gif

Thanks,

Paul.

Yep, going cold turkey before Xmas has been a real wrench:
didn't know how much I need my fix! laugh.gif

Thanks Noz, even I joined FCF last night.
It would help to know what went wrong and the risks for the future.

Yes, thanks Noz. It was also good to have a temporary home in FCF.

Suddenly going cold turkey, as Andrew described it, gave me cause to ponder. We are dependent on Noz to administer our site and on the good offices of Chris to provide its home. I'm ignorant in these matters but does Chris suffer some financial liability in letting us use his site? If he does then I for one would be happy to pay a membership fee of, say, £5 a year in order to safeguard our club. What do you think?

Hi Derek,

There is a very similar thread on the BX forum at the moment.

I for one would be happy to pay a membership fee of, say, £5 a year in order to safeguard our club. What do you think?.....................

It would be worth every penny at twice the price in my opinion. I am all for it if necessary.
Andmcit
And on the FrenchCarForum.

I seem to recall Chris Light made a comment very recently about funding not being a
critical issue and as far as he was concerned the forum would be around for a good
while yet for us Xm forum junkies even if he has sold his Xm and bought a C2.

Andrew
Andmcit
Actually, what I've just said in the previous post isn't strictly true. From reading the C2 thread
it is somewhat ambiguous as xmexclusive replied then suggesting it was a bit cryptic:

LONG time since I put on an appearance here...

So, what about this site? Well, we'll see. I can't ever see me touching another XM.
But I guess you lot need a place to go, for now at least...

So. where do we stand with rights of ownership and furthering the happy family we all call Club-XM?

I just read the BX thread.

I was amazed to find that a site like this costs around £40 per month, I never realised it cost so much for a website.......actually, to be honest, I'd never even thought about it at all.

Anyway, if Chris decides he wants some help with the expences, I'll be happy to make a donation.

At £40 pm that's around £500 per year, so to pay a fiver each there would need to be 100 of us.......or £10 for 50 of us.......and so on........

BTW in case the forum ever goes down again, other members (those who don't know already) might like to make use of a couple of other forums, as some of us did this week.........

The French Car Forum.........they have a Citroen section

http://www.frenchcarforum.co.uk/forum/

and the Citroen Owners Club Forum............they have an XM section

http://www.citroen-owners-club.co.uk/citro...dex.php?act=idx

Of course, if the forum does go down, don't come here looking for these links tongue.gif

Its a great forum, i was lost when it went down for a few days rolleyes.gif , we should do all we can to help with the running smile.gif

That was a very interesting discussion on the BX site, Dave.

I think we need some input from Chris and Noz before it can be taken further, although continued replies from other members on whether they are for or against the idea would be helpful.

I'll happily pay to support this site too.....
