Personally I think the engine bay looks just right for a car half the age and mileage and to clean it and risk ruining lots of electrics would surely be a crime.

To me grime is a crime. Regular maintenance in my book (notice I'm not saying 'religious') includes cleaning the engine bay. But feel free to ignore my opinion biggrin.gif
Interesting point is the 'offending picture' has been removed from the auction site dry.gif

I can't see how a 'grimy' engine bay on a 180,000 mile Cx is a negative selling point!
It suggests liberal coatings of WD40 have been applied which clags everything up over
time and the covering film is likely a desirable protective layer in the rubbish UK climate.
My father still regrets steam cleaning the engine bay of a car many years ago which
subsequently terminally rusted the bulkhead away! It's all about protection not poor
maintenance!! As far as Cx electrics are concerned, leave them well alone and they'll
be happy!! biggrin.gif

Hi, slightly late I know, but I recently bought an Aircon top up kit from Ebay for our `83 CX Familiale and it works! Supposed to be a replacement for the R12 gas but I think its just the later gas.
