Personally I think the engine bay looks just right for a car half the age and mileage and to clean it and risk ruining lots of electrics would surely be a crime.

It suggests liberal coatings of WD40 have been applied which clags everything up over time and the covering film is likely a desirable protective layer in the rubbish UK climate. My father still regrets steam cleaning the engine bay of a car many years ago which subsequently terminally rusted the bulkhead away! It's all about protection not poor maintenance!! As far as Cx electrics are concerned, leave them well alone and they'll be happy!! Andrew |
