Yesterday we were out in the garden all day, the dogs out with us playing and basically had a good day as the weather was awesome.

About 8pm last night the dogs stirred, but we told them to go back to bed as they'd spent all day outside.

About 8.20pm mum got fed up of them making a noise so took them out for a walk. She came back into the house and asked Dad and I if either of us had been in the shed yard, we answered no and she advised us the gates were wide open.

When running up we noticed a big hole in the driveway where our 16 foot Ifor Williams tilt bed trailer used to sit.

The scum bags had cut the chain on the gate and broken the hitchlock on the trailer.

It was absolutely immaculate, was less then 2 years old as well.

Here's a picture of it after lugging a breaker 306 home.

Furious is an under statement!

The police have said they don't hold out much hope. My guess is it's on a boat to Ireland now.

Thanks for listening to my rant.

David.

Bad luck, David. There seems to be no way to protect yourself from the scumbags in society, and it's no consolation to know that our protectors (don't take the law into your own hands, leave it to the professionals) are such a big help.

That is truly terrible David. And you (and the dogs) were at home when they struck..... blink.gif

Believe me, I do know how you feel - apoplectic and after someone's head on a spit doesn't begin
to describe it. The sad thing too, is this wasn't opportunistic but pre-mediated where the scumbags
had jealous eyes set on your hard earned indispensable trailer probably for ages just biding time
for their callous theft.

This Country of ours really is F****d up!

Personally, I really don't want to live here but fear it's just as sh!t anywhere else. Sad but True.

My trailer and stuff is in the backyard ....... With our 40+kg rottie ph34r.gif ohmy.gif They want anything from the sheds or yard .... they have to get past the puppy dog first ........ Some pedestrians cross the street and walk down the other side when they hear her bark. Poeple that know us (inlcuding several Cit-heads ...)... now she's a gentle giant and just walk into the yard to play... Hmmm, is that a good thing ?

I'd kill for a car trailer... I'm "gonna" make one .... soon'ish wink.gif How did you get XM's and CX's onto that trailer ? It "looked" sad.gif a little small for them. Maybe if it's insured you can get one that fits XM and CX wagons on it cool.gif

Yeah there is .... The dogs .... Let 'em sleep out in the backyard. No-one in there right mind goes into a yard with dogs in it ... It's simply not worth the risk. You go somewhere else and steal from someone without dogs (i heard a reformed druggo in a TV interview one say the ONLY houses they wouldn't steal from were ones with dogs..... You just couldn't tell if you would get attacked. where as no matter how fancy a security system was, you would be long gone before anyone turned up to check the place out).

And a Range Rover too:

It was bigger then people thought. The bed of the trailer tilted to a 12 degree slope by pumping the hydraulic pump on the front. There were to big rams under the trailer to tilt the bed. When it was tilted most things would drive up it without catching.

Gonna put out a stolen add and offer a sizeable reward for information leading to it's return.

Hi David / Guys

Commiserations ------ I know just how you will be feeling; all the worse, I guess, as you appear to be in a quiet spot where you might expect to be a little safer from the b******s.

Too many do-gooders in this country for our own good, with excuses for every kind of wrong doing. It's ironic that the obsession most of the prats have is that of 'respect', yet it's the one thing they have none of for anyone else or their possessions.

If you don't get the kit back, I at least hope your insurers make a quick and sensible payout.

Mike.

Trailers are very vulnerable - not easy to secure, easy to nick and VERY easy to sell on for decent money

This trailer cost me £3000 new, and was secured with a hitchlock and a whhelclamp and chained to a chunk of railway line set in concrete. The unit I worked from was on an industrial estate with automatic security gates that were supposed to shut at 7PM. From then till 7AM you had to have a swipe card to get in. The toerags came in one night when the gates were U/S and lifted the trailer. Police reckoned they had a HIAB, cos the chain was found cut on the ground, but no sign of the hitchlock or wheelclamp. Thankfully the Lamborghini wasn't on it at the time, but the worst of it was the insurance company refused to pay up, saying it was a condition of insurance that it was only left outside unattended when the gates were shut!!!

So you have my sympathy. Was it insured?

Heartfelt commiserations, David.
If anyone fancies relocating our little community to a low crime area of Portugal, count us in. We never even lock the car outside the house there. No point in even attempting to live a decent life in "Blighty" any more, the lunatics are already running the asylum.
It just doesn't seem worth the effort of striving to have any worthwhile possesions any more.
A lot of people are totally unaware of the ludicrous laxity of control at our only land border in the "Emerald Isle" and the weakness it presents in both directions. It has to be experienced to be believed.

Will Andrew, you and us be taking shares in "rentalimp" in case we ever catch up with our respective culprits?

With every sympathy and empathy, Rod & Pat.

Gutted for you David. Pity that dog in the picture wasn't loose at the the time eh? Wouldn't have needed feeding for a few days!

Im sorry to hear what has happened David, I think everyone else has said all that can be said, but i do hope you get the trailer back, we have a twin axle Ifor tippper for work so i know how much of an investment they are.........and how totally infuriating it must be to have had some little t**t steal it right out from under your nose so to speak sad.gif .

Whilst I fear the worst as there have been no updates,
have you got anywhere further with this David?

Any chance the reward has motivated anyone to speak out?

I got a phone call the other day from someone telling me that they have used a Black Toyota Land Cruiser Colorado to move it, and I have had a tip off telling me that it's being stored in a scrapyard in a tiny village about 25 minutes from here.

So I went and had a look....

I went there at 2am to find it was a bit of a bigger operation then i expected.

Security Portacabin, Flood lights and CCTV everywhere too. It was also to dark to see if the trailer is there.

I went back in day light to find that the place they're using is a waste management site, i walked straight in pretending i was lost and asking for directions to a local village. I was immediately confronted by 1 chap and whilst asking him for directions i was surrounded by another 4.

There was no way I was getting past the gates.

Apparently these guys also have a reputation for being nasty, if you go at them, they respond twice as hard!

Gonna leave it to the police I think, unless there's a load of XM'ers that fancy meeting in the gates to the yard??

D
Andmcit
It would take local/regular knowledge of you your movements and your yard to carry out
the theft of the trailer and it wouldn't likely be a random opportunistic theft. Hope you do
get somewhere with the help of the Police but there may be a chance these guys will know
they've been rumbled and shift the hot trailer - you can't stake the place out on the
offchance they move it either...

Times like these you need a hidden tracker chip! All to easy to say in hindsight I know. sad.gif

Good luck David!
