dean
Hi Swadger25

Im no derv expert (one will be along very soon biggrin.gif ) but if the primer is sucking itself in and the engine wont rev i would say you have a definate fuel line blockage somewhere.

no wat happens the primer diafram breaks down and it loses it shape so the thing sooks it s self shut that why have taken it off altogether it ran fine for 6 months after doin that thanks

Well the not reving could be related to the ecu going into limp mode giving minimum power to move the car in case of a fault accuring, if it is then the fault needs to be read off the ecu and you will have your answer,
Thats all ive got im afraid the only diesel ive ever worked on is an acient Bx which is mechanical injection.
Someone on hear must know but i dont think the bottom of the board gets looked at that often huh.gif

Good luck

Have you posted on the French Car fourm, theres a Few Xantia Nuts on there..

The 2.1 in the Xantia also has the Epic electro/mechanical pump on it... sounds to me though there very well could be a blockage some where, unless the pump is goosed, which is NOT unknown...

Good luck

Next time it does it try undoing the fuel filler cap, sounds as though the breather might be blocked.

For sure, Xm's are discussed all the time here (well, 85% of it wink.gif) though there is sound reason
for the Xantia section here (and the Cx too biggrin.gif) Some owners own several varieties/flavours of
Citroen and in some cases Citroen's own edges are blurred between the models such as the 2.1
unit found in the Xantia.

That all said, I'm very sketchy on the 2.1 unit as fitted in the Xantia and will listen to all PeterN
has to say about them knowing his long term ownership through his collection of 2.1's!

Swadger25 - speak to Citrojim on the FrenchCarForum too - his 'thing' is diesels and he loves
the 2.1's! biggrin.gif

The 2.1 as found in the Xantia is mechanically the same as most of the XMs but was only ever fitted with the semi electronic EPIC injection system which was only found in the XMs from '96 onward (in this country). I prefer the Bosch mechanical system as its potentially more reliable and easier to repair if you do have a problem.

ok thanks all this problem drivin me mad !!! my car has a lucas pump on it there no electric pump in the tank. i just dont know where im going with this 1 . the car is great real cumfy and drive ex
dean
I would say by the sounds of things it will be something simple..........good luck with it though, hope you get it sorted soon.

The EPIC system doesn't need a lift pump as there is a transfer pump incorporated in the injection pump as with the mechanical one.

Have you checked your filler cap?

Peter.N.
swadger25
yeah checked filler cap.falult code was 0650
Peter.N.
If its the same as the XM, under the rear seat there is a large plactic cover in the floor under which is access to the fuel gauge sender and feed pipe assembly, I think that there is a filter on the intake pipe, might be worth checking.
