Full Version 99t Xm V6 24v - Possibly For Sale

Hi all

I've had my XM now for nearly two months but I fear it'll have to go. sad.gif

I already love it dearly but we're finding a combination of two V6 cars (my wife runs a 2.8 Galaxy), me on a teacher's salary, two young kids and another on the way, I'm not sure it'll prove financially viable - essentially I'm only talking about the cost of fuel.

The car's a former XM Centre one (Paul Johnson) and appears to have been well looked after both before and during my tenure. Bearing in mind where I got it from I (knowingly) paid over the price guide suggestions and therefore cannot afford to lose too much (any at all to be honest) on it for just 2 months ownership and about 1500 miles.

I'd seriously consider swapping for one of the following in nice condition, all working, etc (sorry about the last couple!):

XM 2.1 TD Exclusive auto
XM 2.5 TD Exclusive manual
XM 2.1 TD VSX auto estate (would have to be spot on)
Xantia 2.1 TD Exclusive (estate preferred)
Xantia 2.0 HDi Exclusive (estate preferred)

I plan to take some pictures of it - it's not prepared for sale as such but is nice and clean.

If anyone's in the Lincoln area feel free to call and look. PM me for details or email direct to jones59@ntlworld.com

Cheers

Hi Carliterature,

Sorry to hear of your predicament. I hope you manage to replace with another XM otherwise we'll lose you to a Xantia forum I fear.

As for recouping the 'over the odds' purchase price, I'm slightly sceptical about your potential success in that department. You'd need to find someone else with a similar viewpoint about paying 'more than the going rate' for something that in your own estimation is both desirable and worth it. Without the same viewpoint you're down to 'market' value which is becoming all to clear on e-bay.

I know that's maybe what you didn't want to hear but unfortunately the reality of it.

Best of luck.

Cheers

I know I shouldnt be doing this. What colour is it?

I know, I know - I'd been thinking the same but I still did it! I (like you) was after a black one but when I found how scarce these are I decided to go for the first great one I found - praying it wouldn't be white! It's like a metallic cherry red/burgundy I guess - quite a few shades brighter than the earlier burgundy XMs.

As mentioned before, we've started to make a switch from my wife's V6 Galaxy. She's favouring an HDi Picasso until we can stretch to a C8 HDi but I'm growing very fond of the C5 HDi estates... Guess it'll be whichever can fit three kids seats in the back the easiest... and I'd put money on the Picasso.

Anyway, assuming I was offered a good price for the XM and didn't lose too much on it, I'm fairly sure I'll be switching to a 2.1TD or HDi Xantia Exclusive estate. But I don't want to let it go really wacko.gif What a quandry...

It is a shame I will not be able to buy it I have recently had my wrist slaped by the parental unit for having to many cars, still sounds like a nice XM.
Have you driven the C5 if not it is my opinion that you should keep the XM as it is a much better car.
p.s. white is a good colour for XM's they just look so much bigger in white

I bought my XM from a local independent Citroen garage. The previous owner had chopped it in for a C5 HDI estate, after a couple of months with it he was pining for the XM back so be aware!

Can you tell me which model this is precisely, how many miles it has done and your expectations on price?

Thanks

The 24v XM that is at the Citroen Centre (Paul Johnson as mentioned above) was traded in against a V6 C5!!!!

He traded a 24v Mk 1 in against a C5, what a nutter!!

David.
