So if cit could make a r/h drive CX with the Diravi setup in the 70's why couldnt they fit it to a r/h drive XM in the late 80's??
Sounds like the rust isnt that bad on the later ones then ....................no!, must stop thinking of buying CX's

Dean, does the Isle of Wight location play hell with corrosion issues - I recall a comment you
made about a poorly C6 a while back. Is the sea air that aggressive down your way? The other
side of the water is probably the best hunting ground for pampered Cx's and some of the
best Cx's I've bought came from Hampshire...

No i dont do any wading with cars but i have been tempted to drive across Ryde sands at full bore, but i would get into trouble and i wouldnt want to do it to my cit:D , my XM came from ringwood (southcoast) and has no rust at all, not even rust colouring underneath anywhere which would back up what you say, the C6 i mentioned was not island registered and i have only seen it once so am sure it is not from here, many cars that suffer from rust notoriously seem to do very well here, being surrounded by water keeps us warm and we hardly ever get snow even when i can see snow in portsmouth from my house, we have nothing and as a result the roads here are very rarely salted which i think helps more than being close to the sea hurts. Obviously cars parked right on the sea front especialy those facing the south west suffer because that is the direction most of our storms come from and hence they are continualy sprayed with salt.

The DIRAVI system found on the LHD V6's was a total departure from the CX's system.

The substantial front steering head column of the Cx was done away with altogether and a new
governor was sat atop the broadly normal rack and pinion with the variable steering input adjuster
run from up from the base of the bulkhead up to the top near the strut top where adjustment of the
centering force could be done easily. There is a suggestion that the busy 12v v6 manifold sat in
such a position on the right hand drive cars that the governor system for the the XM DIRAVI
didn't have room to operate - it's a weird set up and has a swing arc of movement on the circular
cassette that contains the system of valves etc that constitute the alternate DIRAVI to the CX.

Not much to tell yet, other than a failed attempt to bring it home, due to not having the proper ramps.
Shall retrieve it at some point though

Really don't know what I'm playing at TBH, am struggling to find the time to maintain the two XMs at the moment, nevermind the fact this things going to need 10x the attention they do...

What's the story with these ramps - what are you attempting to do? Trailering purposes?

There are means to support a CX allowing ground clearance etc without hydraulic pressure
or having the engine running thjus preventing the car's bodywork sinking down and/or
getting damaged!
