Brilliant news - thanks for the update - I was wondering what became of it as it looked VERY
nice in the ebay listing! Did the other accessories get sold as you'll be kicking yourself now;
I fancied the boot liner myself!

Yes I fancied her too.,. and i DO like diesels to..

Andrew, hands off she was too good JUST for a boot liner..... biggrin.gif biggrin.gif tongue.gif laugh.gif

So what was the problem... tell us!!! We'd all like to know!

IIRC The accessories were extra auctions - I wouldn't just buy a nice car needing work
for only a boot liner!!

(Well Ok I have, but it doesn't count as it was a Xantia... tongue.gif laugh.gif)
And it had leather interior and cruise control, and alloys
and was a very unusual slate grey green colour...

Luckily I was able to end the other auctions once we decided to take the plunge and get the work done. Would have been gutted if we'd sold the roof bars and boot liner (never mind the rack itself!).

The rack problem was the pinion valve but we found a reconditioned rack on ebay. Clutch was just worn out, got one for £100 from the local motor factors. Total garage cost was about £470. A heavy hit but better than we originally feared. Also treated the car to 2 new tyres. Fingers crossed that's it for a year at least.....

We did look round for a replacement but seeing as we've just managed to get the XM on a classic policy nothing else came close in terms of overall cost (never mind the fun factor).

Only thing now is getting the heater to work properly - have been looking at how to try to fix the heater valve servo. It blew hot in the summer and is now blowing cool. Typical, but all part of the charm and I'm happy with those smaller jobs!
