Hello fellow XMers,

That sounds like commitment to the cause and as if i couldn't get rid of the thing now if i did want to! biggrin.gif

About a month ago i became the owner of a S1 2.0l inj turbo auto ..... it has 124,000miles on the clock, has been in a farm yard for possibly 5 years i.e. hasn't moved from the yard in 5 years and i really need another car like i need a hole in the head! What was i on at the time? I mean, i was sober but obviously not in complete possession of all of my faculties!

How and why i came by the car and some pics may make their way on here eventually, but the next part of the story can be found in the 'request for technical help' section. Sounds ominous already doesn't it! Wish me luck rolleyes.gif

Hi Roger

Welcome to the club. I wouldn't worry to much about your obsession, I have three of them - all on the road! My son and daughter in law drive one, but I am still responsible for maintaining it huh.gif

Mine do get good used though, I do about 18k per year in the green td estate. They are without doubt a surperb car but one of the main reasons I run them is the potential 50mpg+ that the manual diesels can achieve.

Enjoy yours, will look forward to the pictures.

Thanks for the welcome Peter and Alan. And you too Robert, even though you were the one who talked me into it in the first place!

I see you have the same model Alan; i may be comparing notes with you soon ..... or offering you cut price parts! biggrin.gif

Actually Roger mine's up for sale at present-I've bought a 2.1 TD Exclusive-but I liked the Onyx very much (just not the economy!). So if anyone's interested......again!

Alan there's a VERY dangerous thought forming in my brain ........! biggrin.gif

What?? You're going to buy a 2.1 Turbo Diesel one?? Go full hog and get the 2.5 Turbo!!
Henry
What's that then Roger?
Robert-I've already done it-and it's 2.1 'cos I wanted an auto- i think a big car like the XM should be auto (and leather and air and....). Love the engine/box but a couple of niggles with the suspension....

Hi Alan

My previous post was directed at Roger.

However I tend to agree with your comments, I wanted a XM to be specified as you suggest. Diesel, leather, auto. Now I have the complete opposite in the form of my 2.0Si!

Pity there weren't any XMs meeting that specification with 17k on the clock, so I had to compromise. (Nor could I afford the 2.1 SED that was on e-bay a few months ago with 22k on the clock, pulled from e-bay when bidding reached £2k)

I hope you get your niggles sorted and enjoy the car.

Regards

Robert
Henry
I think I'm getting ther-and I'm enjoying the car too cheers Robert.

Alan, my dangerous thought was "i've got an XM Onyx that doesn't go ....... here's an XM Onyx that does go and is for sale!" ..... but i'm trying to put that idea out of my head and focus on the thought that my XM WILL go sometime soon! biggrin.gif
