Full Version My First Xm

Club XM Forum > Available!
Henry
Thought I'd put it on here 1st to see if any members are interested before I try eBay and risk it falling into the hands of any Pug boys for rape and pillaging-heaven forbid but how would you know apart from possibly acne?
This is/was( as in my signature) my first foray into XM territory and it was a good experience too-it has proven to be a very reliable car (once the head had been done, neither myself nor the vendor were aware it needed doing-it had been stood for a year or so and corrosion had caused the gasket to fail between 3rd and 4th cylinders), the head was skimmed and valves reground ( my mechanic was very fussy! Pity he later emigrated).
I love the performance it has but have switched to a 2.1 td Exclusive (for economy but I think the Si is a better drive).
So here's a straight forward- no frills description along with some pictures, any more info/ questions just ask me.

Cheers,

Alan.

Citroen XM Si Turbo Onyx automatic.Silver Moss, code EZR.
1st Registered 1st August 1994.
103,060 Miles.Taxed until August 2008.MOT until 12th April 2009.
Remote Central locking with 2 functioning plips and the service key.
All 4 electric windows work-the rears are a little slow, fully operational sunroof.
Glovebox has a good catch and operational strut.Good condition leather interior with matching door cards.
Climate control (but NO air con) works as it should.Factory fitted Clarion radio cassette with 6 CD autochanger in working order (with code too).
Car is in good order for a 14 year old-drives smoothly and rides well-no smoke ( the head and valves along with timing belt and water pump were done about 16 000 miles ago) uses no oil or water and no LHM leaks either.
Just a few dings-the largest being to the rear nearside quarter panel above the creaseline-looks like someone has leaned onto the car pushing the panel in (no creasing though)the other is a depression just ahead and below the drivers mirror between the wheelarch and the door hinge edge-looks like a bicyle handlebar to me.
The usual XM trait of pock marked paint to the tops of the rearmost small roof panels, a small area of primer at the edge of the wing where the sidelight meets it-I never got paint mixed to match when the sidelight was damaged-and a slight scuffing to the front nearside corner of the bumper. Also a patch of rust on the bottom edge of the offside rear door ( I assume it is rust as it's not got any worse whilst I've had the car).

Very nice Alan.

Crunch question; what kind of return are you expecting for it?

Was it an early Xm prototype later registered on an M? biggrin.gif rolleyes.gif wink.gif
(if that totally passed you by, the date of reg you've shown as 1984...!).
Leave it, everyone will know what you mean!

Whereabouts are you located?

Andrew

BTW, I'm confused, are you Alan or Henry or likely both? laugh.gif

Andrew,

I can vouch for the car - Its quite a stunner really for the age.. The car is located in the Wirral..

Alan also forgot to mention its had Strut top replacements too, which were in top notch order from what I can remember, as I fitted them and still have the old ones in my shed, Its also had recent front Disks and Pads fitted by me too... Both done during the course of last year

Well worth the price being asked, I have an Idea, but Its alans decision on his final price, We'll have to await his response to your Price question, but I just thought from a mechanical point of view Id add those two reasonable improtant things Alan forgot to mention

Thanks Paul for filling in some of my omissions! Andmcit-it is a 1994-you get the prize biggrin.gif -so it is a series1.5-I was concentrating on giving a clear and accurate description that I forgot the price-I'm looking for about £600 for it and as Paul said it is on the Wirral (Merseyside) the single spoke steering wheel will NOT come with the car (promised to Paul) the original twin spoke will be refitted.
My name is Alan but forum name is Henry-when I joined I thought I'd be able to change it...but no.

Alan (Henry) whatever..... wink.gif
Henry
Also forgot to mention-the car has never had an ABS issue-comes on with ignition for a few seconds then goes off and stays off-not once has it flickered during driving.

Henry/Alan/whatever - where are you on the Wirral? As you may have seen elsewhere on here my XM is a bit poorly. I will pop over and have a look at this if I may.
Henry
New Brighton-PM me if you want more info-I'm home tonight but out all day tomorrow - at Paul's ( CitroenXM)-and in and out on Sunday.

Chris won't be around Sat to Tues going to Scotland-but Friday evening's good for me if you like. Car is taxed up to end of SEPTEMBER-got confused with Xantia tax-I knew one was August!!

Alan.

Sorry Alan - Friday night is no good for me - I will be tipping in Birmingham late afternoon - and we all know what the M6 is like on a Friday! mad.gif
Henry
No problem-any night next week (apart from Mon or Tues) or Saturday afternoon/evening I'm around too.
