My girl friend dropped the 306 off for MOT this morning.
It's getting a new wheel bearing fitted, and new back axle bushes fitted to it, and it had 2 new tyres the other night.
They are going to cast an eye over it and if it isn't going to fail on anything obvious they are going to MOT it.
Car is at the local Peugeot dealership who have never been anything but great whenever i have taken any car in so i know its in good hands.
In 2005 when i got it it had 2 new shocks, 2 new drop links, 2 new track rod ends, 2 new hand brake cables.
In 2006 it had another set of hand brake cables and a couple of daft advisories.
In 2007 is flew through it's MOT with no work needed.
This year..... I just feel that it's going to need something as been good to me in the past!
Every time my phone rings am nervous just incase it's them phoning to tell me it needs condeming lol.
Part of me feels like it'll be fine as it is driving nicely with no funny noises other then bearing and bushes, part of me thinks it'll need something.
Rant over...
David.

Hey David
I'm in same mental state as you as August is approaching: the XM's been so troublefree since last MOT that I have only visited Graham's place to say Hi!
I have budgeted £500 for this one though, my experience with this car says the cost of maintenance can range between 0 to £1,000 per year...
Hope the 306 sails through!
cheers

Phew george, thats a large figure..
My ole girl, thats the 1993 V6 auto, useually costs me that in fuel, and Zero in maintenance, and just the one fee for mot, as I go over the car exactly as my MOT man does, and check it al before I go...
Good luck with your MOT!!

Well I hope, besides the silly little bits, you will never have to put a full new exhaust AND repair the gearbox at the same time

(=£1,000).
Happens rarely but it does happens!

George,
I do! My exhaust is also blowing after the Cats though, thank god. Will get it off and see if its weldable.. Mines a 1990 so I dont need to worry about emissions if I decide to remove them..
Cheers

Well the 306 is now home from the Peugeot Dealer and its driving like a new car!!
It had the following:
Discs and pads all round
Fit drivers front wheel bearing
Replace rear calipers as one was leaking a bit and one was partially seized
Replace back axle bushes
Bleed braking system
Balance front wheels
CV Gator on passengers side
Driveshaft oil seal on gearbox
MOT
and a couple of other bits n pieces
Total with 10 hours labour to put it all right.
Total Bill was just shy of 600 quid - most of which is labour and is annoying as i usually do stuff myself but have no time at the moment to get near anything!!
Only advisory is front left wheel bearing has a tiny amount of play.
David.
