Hello all,
I set off to replace the automatic tensioner for the accesories belt today. Found that the bolt attaching the old unit to the engine had previously broken and the thing was just left in there with no bolt at all!!

No wonder the belt was all over the place. I figured that the only way to get the bolt out was to get the bracket it attaches out of the car and take it to work to get the bolt out (no room to do it on the car anyway). The only problem with this is that the AC pump and alternator attaches to this bracket as well. ( in the end we spend 3 hours dismantling different parts to get it out and I'll probably have to take the pump out as well to get it all back in)
Should have more news tomorrow. (I just hope this isn't how the engine was built in because i'll be in for a lot of trouble in that case)
Cheers,
Niek (still driving the 16v)
