I must admit that a flat top instrument panel was one of the advantages of the Mk1.

Yup, much more "airy" view out the front too.

I'm also having real probs getting comforable in the S2 car. Not sure if its manual versus electric seats, leather versus cloth, previous owners, the different lower dash arrangement, or clucth location/adjustment, but I just can't seem to get comfortable in the S2 car and keep having to fiddle with the seat, and whatever I do keep banging my left knee on the wheel when releasing the clutch. Sigh, maybe I'll get there eventually.
I think the manual seats have a different angle versus height relationship which agrees with my posture better. Or maybe its just familiarity, been driving the S1 for over 10 years now.

All my estates have have had electric seats, Mk1 & 2 and I can't say I have noticed any difference. My last purchase (still awaiting a clutch) was an SX, I have only driven it home but thought the seats were quite comfortable albeit manual. Could be that the seats are worn, although they are usually very durable.

I Too found a difference between my old SEi with leather seats like armchairs very confortable as against the current VSx estate with cloth seats i seem to be perched on them and not in them it took ages to find a acceptable position.

So Norman, did your Sei have manual or electric leather seats?

thanks for the feedback. More fiddling with the VSX seat today, bit better I thnk.
Saw some seat covers on Ebay, maybe I will get one of those too, it has a couple of fag burns and of course lunch crumbs and spillages (being much more likely in a S2 car :-))
are also more difficult to clean up on the cloth seats.

Or maybe just get some leather seats from a S1 from ebay. Does anyone know, will
a full set of seats go in the back of a hatch XM? Did they do any leather seats with the split rear seat or are they all non-splitable?

Ciaran
I was about to post up saying my S2 leather seats were as comfy as the ones in the S1.... then I remembered that I retrofitted the S2 ones.... which I got from a '90 S1 rolleyes.gif rolleyes.gif laugh.gif

:-). Did you change the carpets too, not sure black leather with grey carpets will look
too good.

Hi Dr Tim,
Being a 1.5 Sei everything was electric including the seats also something i noticed the heating/a/c went through the door pillar to the rear and was adjustable . being a Vsx i thought it would be the same but no sign of a air vent.

Hi Norman

Citroen dropped the rear air vents through the front doors/pillars from the VSX Estate spec for the 1997 model year onwards. They did this even in aircon cars.
