That's the information I needed, all is correct here, so now I will more carefully check the resistance of the leads. I have just now checked the oil level and find it is way overfull, about six inches!! So that will be my job for tomorrow!

Glad you are pleased with the rugby result, at least someone is!
I can now see what must be wrong with your XM. They dont always work reliably the right way up. Taking one to New Zealand and expecting it to work upside down is asking a lot.
