Is there a gasket between the exhaust manifold and the downpipe or is it a metal rose joint?
I have some blowing from this region and want to make sure I can take it apart and fix it in one visit.

It should come as a set in a cat fitting kit, they are only about a tenner and you get all new clamps, seals, gaskets etc, not sure of the layout on the turbo model though, but if it is anything like the N/A engine you will more than likely end up cutting the old bolts off that join the cat to manifold so worth getting the kit.
Good luck

The manifold joint to the main downpipe has a wirewool donut ring which
comes in the fitting kit of springs and bolts that GSF sell for about £15.
The donut ring sits on the main collar of the downpipe and is compressed
by the fluted collar of the downpipe.

Must be the same joint as the N/A then.

Looking at the part numbers and the pictures all the 2.0 have the same cat fitting kit.
Good luck trying to cut through those two bolts on the cat to manifold joint Wirdy because unless they are new i can almost guarantee you will round off the heads, but with a bit of luck they will sheer off

The one job I really REALLY hate doing on Xm and Xantiae!
Hacksaw blade is the only way though I've tried B&D Scorpoin cutter
and various grinders etc.

Yeah the dremel doesn't have a blade big enough to go in past the spring to cut the bolt and anything else is too big to get in there. i hate having to do it, mind you easier than replacing a steering rack
