I have a late 94 (M reg) S2 car. Should it have anti sink? (It doesn't).
I thought all S2 cars were fitted with anti sink.

Hi Paul,
I've been trying to post this answer since midday, there seems to have been a glitch on my computer.
Anti sink was introduced on the '95 model, it coincided with the introduction of the split output six piston hydraulic pump which made anti sink a necessary fitment. As you probably know only two pistons were dedicated to the suspension so pumping up a collapsed suspension was deemed to take too long.
So if a car has a hydraulic pump with two output pipes then it will have anti sink, if it only has one outlet then it hasn't

Thanks for the reply Derek,
So there's nothing wrong with mine then

...........well, apart from the fact that it doesn't have anti sink.........I should have bought a later model

.
Thanks again,
Paul.

Hi Paul
With the first Mk2's introduced in July 1994 (1995 model year) Citroen only fitted anti-sink on the cars with the new engine type. That was the 2.5TD. Those models with engine types already in production just got the Mk2 body facelift and not anti-sink. I am not even sure if it got added to the other XM variants in later years. My 96 V6 auto does not have anti-sink.

Thanks XMexc,
Does anybody know if it's possible to convert it to anti sink?
Is it simply the addition of a couple of extra parts or is it the complete system that's different?
Paul.

My 95 XM V6 Diravi did not have anti sink.

But my '95 2.0 turbo does!
Paul, I don't think it's feasible to after fit anti sink. Apart from new A/S valves, brackets and pipework changes you would also have to fit the dreaded anti sink sphere to provide emergency rear brake pressure.

Ok Derek, thanks for the advice.
I won't even ask about the anti sink sphere.......the word 'dreaded' say's it all.......

Paul,
Have a quick look at "2.1 saloon bad rear hydraulic pipe leak" in this section.

Tell me about it!

What's odd actually is the car is a 2.1Td with the anti sink. What's even more weird is it's silver but the body trim and bumpers has the earlier black plastic inserts but coloured scuttle and mirrors: all of which I must say looks genuine. Possibly personal preference when ordered new as I do like it better than full colour coding myself.
