Less than a month after I last repaired it :-(. And the tape started playing fast last nite too (but I got a minidisc and adaptor).. In the blue one today.

Gutted for you Tim, nothing more annoying than having your car damaged.

Vandalism, or just a careless driver?

That's a real git, Tim. I understand from a mate who lives in Bristol that almost every car
there has at least one broken mirror worn as a kind of sign of initiation and acceptance into
the 'herd' with most cars being left parked (and in some cases driven) with their mirrors
folded in.
Wonder if the guys who design those swanky expensive German efforts have spent some time
in the city...
Sadly the mirrors on Xm's aren't made of anything more robust than my toast and marmalade
with the same crumbly consistency!!

Thanks Ciaran, I really am pretty immune to it now, and have a backup car, so at least it didn't slow me down getting to work.
Its probably careless driving, I get as close to the kerb as I can but its a narrow street and sometimes you get idiots going way too fast.
Could be vandalism though, I missed having tyres slashed just after xmas by a couple of cars, and had two windows done as pure vandalism in 2006.

Aha, so you have mostly S1 cars then Andmcit?
I've had a few knocks on the S2 and keep having to readjust them (1st drive since getting back from xmas break today, both needed a nudge) but apart from slightly cracked shell on the os one they seem to survive a LOT better than the S1 ones.
btw I don't fold in the mirrors, it just entices the real idiots to drive even closer to the parked cars as the 3 panels I had done on the os in 2001 testify, all one "vandalism" incident.

Do you have another mirror? if not I may have one although the colour will probably be wrong.

Thanks Ken, I MIGHT have sufficient bits to cobble together another but it will mean putting a colour coded shell on there which I'd prefer not to, and I think the only metal skelleton I have left is pretty knackered anyway. It is a black S1 mirror btw. Is is an S1 that you have? Someone else offered me one in dec that I declinded at the time as I managed a fix myself with bits from ebay.

You mean NS and OS S1 in black, or black and colour coded NS, or S1 and S2?
Whatever. yes please, I'll PM you my work address for delivery, let me know cost and I'll pop a cheque in the post. If you have OS and dont need it then I'll go for a pair.
regards, and thanks

I won't post a pic, as this is a family forum, but i was very unimpressed to come back to the car on a frosty Saturday morning to find someone had written the C-word across my bonnet in huge letters in the frost...

Bet they drive a 206 with a 1L engine and so much plastic stuck to it that it has doubled the weight of the car
