Bought a used car guide, L'argus, in Brittany over the summer. It's interesting that the French appear to keep their cars longer on the roads than us Brits - judging by the number of mid 80s / early 90s models rattling on their roads. As a consequence their 2nd hand car guides stretch further back in time than our Parker's or What Car?
I picked the mag up to read what the French themselves made of owning one of their motors - if anybody should know, then surely they should. Full page buyer's guides of the XM, as well as the Bx, were included, alongside one or two others I've read mentioned on this forum - the 607, Safrane and the Vel Satis (I was almost persuaded - have you seen their prices on Ebay!?)
If I read the articles correctly they state how many of the cars were on French roads last summer - 44,000 XMs to choose from, 122,000 BXs. I can believe it, XMs were frequent - though I only saw one estate, which surprised me. Only one CX and one C6 too - which disappointed me.
The 602 enthusiast in me was happy to see loads of 2cvs and Meharis (R4s too).
Anyway, I hope the link connects to the articles and you find them as interesting as I did.
