My XM is factory fitted with rocker switches to wind the windows up/down. I have recovered from a scrap Citroen BX TZD the drivers door switches, control box and all the associated wiring that allows you to wind down the passenger window and to 'one-touch' switch the window down to its full extent. The switches look like they will physically fit into the XM door housing, but I was wondering if anyone knows how to connect the wiring?

Hi stjxs01
The one thing you forgot to mention in your list of parts was a winder motor which came off a car with one touch. The normal motor (ie without one touch) has two connections. The One touch motor has 4 connections. Theres a feedback loop to the controller to say what position the window is in. This is how it knows to turn the power off to the motor when the window is fully up or fully down.
Cheers

Oops that was a waste of money then. I know from your previous articles (thanks they are very good Noz) that XM's use cable driven mechanisms which are probably different to the BX. Guess I'll need to look out for an old XM with 'one touch' motor.
THANKS for saving me a whole load of wasted time attempting to wire this up.
I might have a go at connecting the passenger window to the drivers side though.

Hi, I also have some TZD one touch switches that I recovered. They are a different size (physically smaller) than those from an XM and are a very loose fit in the door pull. They are electrically the same and I use one of them on a test rig for XM motors in the shed. I have found two different XM types of one touch switch early Mk1 with 5 wire contacts and later Mk1's/Mk2's with 6 wire contacts.
I have not ever come across a 4 contact motor in the drivers door of Mk 2 XM's.
All the one touch Mk 1's I have repaired have had a 2 contact motor as used in the other doors and an electrical control box to interface to the one touch switch. I have found that the drivers doors of Mk 2's are fitted with a motor that has the electrical control box incorporated with a multiway connector to the door wiring loom. I have recently dealt with a failed window in a Mk2 drivers door by fitting a Mk 1 mechanisim and control box and grafting this into the existing door loom. If the is interest the I will write this up and submit to the forum.
Hope this helps

Interestingly, all the window motors from my BX have 2 connectors. I guess the electronic box sorts out the switching. I would be most interested if user above could submitt article for wiring this up as suggested. THANKS.

Sorry, Have been away for 3 weeks and now cannot find the sketches of the rewiring that I did to the drivers door window controls. I guess its someware under the pile of junk mail and other clutter in my work room. Will make an effort to find it and produce some notes to post here.
