I have suspected that my rear spheres need changing for some time now, however the car seems very good on a very cold morning i.e 4 degrees.

I had a same thing with my Xantia, I put it down to less internal leakage due to thicker fluid and smaller clearances.

Strange you mention this, my car has got slightly softer with the cold weather and its started to take all night to sink completely, but i have just swapped lhm for the special cleaning agent so i cant be sure if its the cold or the cleaner doing its thing?!?!?!

Mine is the opposite. It is softer in warm weather. It had been behaving surprisingly well recently - despite the temperature being below 20 degrees which is its usual 'go soft' temperature. However, when the cold weather came in it went rock hard and has stayed that way. Happens every time - weather gets colder and ride gets harder.

Have the hydraflush planned for Saturday, so I will see if that makes any difference over a few thousand miles.

Just a detail re. hydraflushing, in case u were not planning to do it: it'll be even better if u also rinse the LHM tank with petrol before u put the hydraflush in it. Give it a fresh start by getting rid of all the muck that is lying at its bottom. Just put about a glass of petrol in every time and shake tank well in all directions. Mine needed 4-5 repetitions for the petrol to go out clean. And of course I'll do same when I revert to LHM.

Thanks George. I was already planning to rinse the tank and filters well. Not annoying at all to be reminded - I may not have persevered through 4-5 repetitions thinking it wouldn't ever come out clean, but now I will.
