Did anyone on here buy this?

I bid £250 on it, as first bidder as soon as it was listed. Within a short time I was outbid, but with over 6 days left the seller ends the auction and sells it to the high bidder for £255 wacko.gif

Why bother with a 10 day auction, in fact why bother at all.

If you bought the car, good luck to you and do lets here all about it.

That was plenty of car for 255 beer tokens.

What's a new DIY full exhaust? £150?

Good luck to the new buyer if he/she is on here.

Maybe a clue is in the sellers name?

They state that disability forces sale. Is this a disability of the owner or the car? Perhaps a failing auto too? rolleyes.gif

Nevertheless a lot of car for the money.

I'm beginning to despair with ebay.

I'd bid on the 2.1 estate in Telford, yes the one with broken gearshift linkage. I'm sure some of you were also watching it.

Got a message from the seller to say due to personal reasons he was ending the sale mad.gif

Why does this always happen with cars that I am really interested in. sad.gif

Hi Ken

I was watching that too, I reckon because of the ammount of interest he thought it was probably worth repairing.

The silver estate was ended early too. Are we beginning to see an growing appreciation of XMs, both intrinsically and in value?

I bought the silver estate. The bidding had slowed to nothing and, as I was the highest bidder, he offered it to me.

I have had a complete exhaust for £240 and it needs a turbo as its cracked. Apart from that, its in fully working order and drives superbly. Even the dot matrix displays work and the auto box display too. A great buy.

I think the key to EBay is that you have to bid. So many people don't bid, the sellers go cold and panic and offer the car out. I have bought several cars like this, as unfair as it might seem.

No seriously. Good luck to you. I was going to bid maybe another £100 on top of that, but thats their loss.

Glad to hear the cars OK, It certainly looked good on the listing. How does the cracked turbo affect it's performance?

Thanks. The cracked turbo just makes the car noisier at the moment. It sounds like the front exhaust is loose and blowing. Performance must be down but I can't tell.

I shall locate a new turbocharger and have it fitted. Hopefully that'll get things back to normal. I shall let you know if there is measurable difference after the new one is fitted.

Thanks again for your kind comments.

This reminds me how ebay is like a lottery when it comes to used cars:

"Exhaust slightly noisy, may need replacing. Inspection welcomed."

....and it turns out the turbo is cracked??? I would be very dissappointed personally, hoping it's just a gasket or so.

Makes me feel almost lucky finding that a few electrics didn't work on my XM after having flown Glasgow-Germany to collect it, with seller having repeatedly confirmed that "absolutely everything works", which converted to the usual "to my knowledge all was working...." when I was in his yard in Duesseldorf.... mad.gif mad.gif mad.gif After alot of bargaining he cut me eu150 from the -dear- eu1400 ebay price...Just enough to buy me a new fog light and 2 electric window motors and various switches, and do the work on my own of course. Oh, and all spheres were totally flat -which I didn't know back then-. And still the cheeky bastard had the nerf to say "ahhh, you Greeks are always like that". Having concluded the sale, on the way out of his office I spotted a set of keys hanging from the wall among many, I ask, what are those, "oh, yes, that's the car's extra keys, here, have them"...
