Hi all.
Friend of mine has a late-ish BX 1.9TD with the curious phenomenon that when he turns off the ignition switch, the engine keeps running -- sometimes for a good minute or two. All the igniton stuff goes off and the solenoid has been changed in the pump. My money is on the pump itself, but any suggestions most welcome. Perhaps related. also a sod to start, even though good compression and A1 glowplug situation. When it's actually running, all seems well.
Mike.

I think I'd check for voltage at the solenoid after the ignition is turned off. Then I'd be looking for maybe air in fuel. This could allow the fuel to run back, making it difficult to start.

Hi Ken.
Thanks for the ideas. It's funny how you (or at least me !) can overlook the most obvious things. I work with diesels pretty much every day, yet I do believe air is the one thing we haven't looked for on the mate's car. If a customer rang me with the query, it would be one of the first things I'd suggest !!! I'll go and stand in the corner for a bit with the dunce's hat on.
Mike.
