Full Version Rear Squeak

Club XM Forum > XM General Issues
kiwi
Hi all,

My 2.1 has started to emit a tinny metallic sqeak as the rear suspension settles after the engine is turned off. It seems to be on the rear passengers side only. Haven't had a chance to look underneath yet and won't have access to a pit or hoist for a couple of weeks. Any thoughts / ideas on the likely cause of the noise?

I must admit to not having spent much time underneath the back of my XMs so it will be uncharted territory for me.

regards,
Kiwi

Sounds like the swinging arm bearing on that side.

Yep, definitely swinging arm bearings. There's a self help file on replacement.

Hi Kiwi

I have never had to replace them on an XM but it sounds suspiciously like the noise my BXs and CXs made just prior to replacement. mad.gif

Cheers, thanks for the info. After reading Noz's posting in the Self Help files I can see this has the potential to be a fun experience. It will have to wait until after the Rugby World Cup.

Kiwi
