Hi all.
I am off on a very long journey next week and of course my car has sprung a leak!!!I noticed a small area of LHM a while back on the drive,but then it stopped.I had the wheels rotated yesterday and when I was looking around the wheel arch I noticed the leak had started again.The picture shows the front right drivers wheel arch.It looks worse in the picture as this is the full extent of the staining to the inner arch.There is a pipe dangling in mid air that looks to be the source of the leak,but it doesn't appear to be pouring out.I presume this to be the culprit as although the lhm is more obvious lower down I suspect it has collected from this high point.Everything appears to be working normally-my regulator clicks every 20 seconds and there has only been one very small lhm puddle on the driveway.My lhm appears to be green!The level has gone down in the lhm tank though,on the high setting the UFO descends to the upper mark which it didn't before.
Any help would be gratefully received.
I am going to get my timing belt priced up in France-I'll let you kniow when I get back what they said.

Hi Rob,

Its only the return from the strut. The flow should be very low anyway. Its only there to catch the natural leakage past the strut seals used for lubricating the cylinder. Just cut a clean end off the rubber hose, remove the broken bit still on the steel pipe and put the rubber end over the steel pipe. Job done. It will probably last another 10 years !!

Many thanks-I presume the broken off bit is slightly obscurred behind the strut as I couldn't see where the loose pipe might go.I'll have a look later.

I found it......when I won the title club thickbert of the year award it was well deserved!!!I had this pipe crack on my 2.1 but the flow from that was very high.I almost disabled the car on axlestands down a shared drive on a Bank Holiday with Halfords about to close in 15 minutes.I thought the bit to reattach was at the other end and managed to neatly cut the pipe off where it meets the actual strut-I managed to bodge it with a windscreen washerpipe union...somehow.
I am off to France on Friday for 5 weeks when I will do 3-4K so I am glad it was an easy fix!...this time!
