Hello all... its good to have found you... Having come from a Citroen family.. (DS,CX, GS and a 2CV Dolly) I now have a very cheap XM S1. This has to be my daily transport for a while.. I only got it a couple of days ago.. and its not well sad.gif

I need some ideas please.. I dont have a workshop, experience, tools or money to get someone else to do it.. but I do have enthusiasm, I don't mind working on the street and I will borrow what I need..

Firstly the Carb.. There is a vacuum hose coming from the distributor. but its not connected to anything.. Now I know this is perhaps supposed to go to the carb, but there are a number of places it could connect, there is also a black plastic thing that also has three plastic nozzles that it could connect to. There is also a small vacuum hose not connected to anything lying in the same area... Does anyone have any photos of the carb connections perhaps...

Hope someone can help!

Cheers

Hi Steve,

Can't help you out with a picture of the XM S1 arrangement but from what you describe its exactly like the CX setup. Please find a pdf of the CX setup attached.

Please let us know if it solved your problem. If not, I'm sure we'll be able to lay our hands on the right diagram for you.

Cheers

Hi thanks for that..

Doesn't however look anything like the fittings on my XM unfortunately

How about if a posted pictures on here of what I have, maybe that would be clearer then and you guys could probably understand how its all supposed to go together..

I can take some tomorrow

Thanks again

Cheers

Ah well.. the carb seems the least of my problems now..

The clutch has gone!.. no drive at all... managed to get the car going and went for a drive.. got to a big hill and the clutch just slipped and slipped and then stop working completely.. got back thanks to the RAC!

Anyway, fitting a new clutch is beyond me.. any suggestions as to someone local ish to Lancaster who'd do it for me?

I've got a budget of about £250...

Any suggestions would be much appreciated!

Tell me your RP number (on LH "A" pillar, visible with passenger door open) and I will possibly have a new genuine Valeo clutch in stock at well below new cost.
